So I'm confused about the timeline for the official 1.6 release date. Many weeks ago TP Link said it would be released within a week or a few days. Then I saw a couple threads above that TP Link said that they're starting a new testing phase for the beta version. Is this correct? So we're looking at many many more months of testing? which would take it over an entire year. Sorry, just trying to understand.

I would love to have 1.6.1 as well for my M9 v1 units...

Today I had some time to sit down and test the whole wifi system at home.
Let me put my observations here.
My subscription is 800 Mbps up and 200 Mbps down fibre package. I use a TP-Link SG108E unmanaged switch and TL-R600VPN router to connect to my ISP's BTU. The M9 Plus Decos work as access points. I have 3 V1 nodes one of which is the main deco and 2 V2 nodes.
I have my V1 nodes running on 1.6.0 and the V2 ones on 1.6.1. David messaged me to switch one of the 1.6.1 nodes as the main deco and test the performance.
I did that but still got a max of about 470 Mbps up and 200 Mbps down when I used the speed test app that is built into the Deco app itself.
Then I connected my laptop to the main deco (to the second Ethernet port) using a Cat 6 Ethernet cable and tested the speed from my laptop using the Speed test App that is installed on my laptop. Surprisingly the speed recorded was close to 800 Mbps (750 to 770) up and down was 200 Mbps.
At least from my experience on my 800/200 Mbps fibre network, I can conclude the issue is the speed test app that is built into the Deco app. Maybe the built-in speed test app does not have sufficient time to ramp up the speed beyond 500 Mbps.
The above is my experience using my wifi setup and doesn't speak for others.
I would like to thank David and others in this community for sharing their experiences.

Thanks for sharing your detailed experiences.
Why dont't you use v1.6.1 firmware for your v1 m9 units?

If you use the Deco as a router then you will see these settings. If you use as an access point this option doesn't show up.
