well I've bailed. I bought a pair of Asus Pro ET12s - yes much more expensive but with the 2 units I have 10 x the wifi speed I got with my 4 m9 plus everyhwere in the house. Much more confdigurable and easy to set up.

Does it allow you to manually fix connection preferences, viz., connect to a preferred node?

  @MorrisAGE

That's possible on all modern Asus mesh-systems, you can lock a client to a specific node without problems.

I used a set of Asus XT8's for a few years in one of our homes and it worked well, but was unfortunately very hit and miss with new firmware updates. They got a lot of updates but few were really stable over time so you either had to stay with an outdated firmware for stability and miss out on security patches and new features, or follow the update regime knowing something got fixed and a random thing got broken with many of the updates. That's my main complaint about the Asus XT8's.

I haven't tried the Asus ET12 but I've read lots of praise of it as a fast and stable system.

On the other hand you have Deco not providing many updates, great if everything "just works" but not so if you have trouble and have to wait for months or even years before a fix is in.

  @MorrisAGE yes just about everything is configurable - including wifi channels!. I bought the deocs for the mesh coverage and plug and play but they really were TOO limited and the coverage was poor - the Asus has so far delivered great coverage with half the units and is as configurable/plus and play as you want. But thats what you are paying for. It will be interesting to see if all the disconnections on my SkyQ mesh stop now my wifi mesh is on a 100mhz band and not slap bang in the middle of the same band.

@andrenb @RWB66

Good to know about the flexibility while configuring the devices.

I checked out their prices and wow..... sadlaugh

If the users of TP-Link can access a wired backhaul infrastructure in their homes then TP-Link serves the purpose at an attractive price. Also, if you have access to a wired backhaul infrastructure, you can as well get the Omada devices installed.

I use a TP-Link VPN router as my main router along with a TP-Link 8 port unmanaged switch and they function well and serve the purpose well too. The router is very stable and it helps me to restrict internet access (offers better configuration flexibility than the ISP provided TP-Link consumer level routers) during the night to a couple of essential devices. My router and switch are pre-Omada models. Looks like the business-level (Omada) devices are better off than the consumer-level devices in terms of flexibility. The price difference between these two is not that far off. The only advantage I see with the consumer level devices is the ease of configuring especially for a user who is not into tech.

  @David-TP Is it true that TP-link won't release version 1.6 for m9?

Anyone tested the beta version 1.6.1 which was posted here weeks ago I think, is it stable enough or not recommend?

  @xQuantum I did, that beta 1.6.1 posted by some user. So far so good. I did not have any problems before so hard to compare.

Also interested in this is version... have read some positive feedback on this forum. Now download link is removed because TP-Link asked this. And there is absolutely no information about a possible release.
