Hi @Jerry_S

There might be some internet interrupt issue in some special network environment as reported by some of our community users, so the 1.3.1 Build 20220721 may not be available to be updated, and that's why you got some errors when trying to upgrade that version.

I've just updated my thread, you can find a beta firmware version that adds the support for the VPN Client feature if it is what you are looking for, please try installing it on your Archer AX11000 to monitor its performance:

Both iPhone and iPad wifi marks remain connected, but the AX11000 is no longer accessible.
Switching from a 5G network to a 2.4G network will restore Internet connectivity. After that, switching to the 5G network will restore Internet connectivity.

Smart Connect is not used.

Currently it is WPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK[AES]. do you mean to change it to WPA2-PSK[AES]+WPA-PSK[TKIP]?

Currently using 1.3.1 Build 20220831 rel.77448(4A50).

Thanks

@yashiyashi

Yes, please try to change the security to WPA2-PSK, AES, then monitor the connectivity on the iPhones and iPads.

Just want to confirm again, will the LED on the AX11000 turn orange/red when the issue happens? It seems you are reporting an issue that is different from others, so I just want to confirm some more details.

  @Kevin_Z

The 5G connection is unstable even after changing to WPA2-PSK, AES. It sometimes disconnects.

Check the LEDs when an event occurs.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I've been using the beta version of the driver for the past two days and have been continuing to experience the same issue at roughly the same frequency. I will downgrade to 1.3.0 until another beta is available. Thanks for all the hard work you and your coworkers are putting in Kevin!

  @Kevin_Z

Some other weirdness that I have observed regarding firmware 1.3.1 Build 20220721 rel.61848(4555):

1) The Connected Clients list does not recognize that the name of a PC (with the same MAC address) has changed.

Specifically: During Windows 10 installation, carried out over a year ago, my PC was automatically named "DESKTOP-qwerty", and the router recognized it as "DESKTOP-qwerty". Fair enough.

Yesterday, I did a complete reinstall of Windows 10 (without changing any hardware), and the PC was automatically named "DESKTOP-12345". Now, the router should recognize it as "DESKTOP-12345". But it doesn't: it continues to be listed in Connected Clients as "DESKTOP-qwerty"!

And even a reboot of the router does not solve the problem.

2) In VPN Client, some devices - and I'll refer only to my wife's Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra - are listed as both online and offline for connection to the VPN, with the online and offline "versions" having different MAC addresses.

3) A couple of months ago, I ceased using a smartphone, specifically a Huawei P20 Lite. It is no longer used or even switched on. Fast forward to a month or so ago, and I flashed the most recent official firmware, rebooted the router to factory settings, and started to set it up. So, logically, the router had no way of knowing that the Huawei was ever connected to it.

But when, after activating VPN Client, I click on the list of devices to add, the Huawei P20 Lite shows up as "offline"! How come!? How could the router - after wiping all its settings and flashing a new firmware - have "remembered" that the Huawei was ever connected to it!?

In light of the above, what do you recommend?

Flashing to the latest beta? Or perhaps waiting for the new official firmware?

  @Kevin_Z

I think I've resolved all the problems that I mentioned in my previous post.

And the solution seems to be stupidly simple...

Previously, when resetting the router to factory defaults, I had used the software "Factory Restore" option - which should work as advertised.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it does not entirely wipe the router's settings.

I now used the most primitive of methods - sticking a pin in the router's Reset hole. And this did the trick.

So a warning to all those who may have a similar problem: using the software "Factory Restore" option does not really restore the router to default values.

  @Kevin_Z

1. Is the internet connection 100% stable before this firmware update? Is updating the AX11000 firmware to 1.3.1 Build 20220721 the only change before and after the internet issue occurs?

Yes

2. When the internet is not available, what is the LED status on the AX11000, orange or white?

Red

3. How often does the disconnect issue happen? several hours or minutes or days?

Usually overnight

4. Will the internet recover if you click the Release then Renew on its web GUI?

Yes..I just unplug ethernet cable connecting router to modem and then plug back in

5. Your Country and your Internet Provider.

United States

Spectrum

Arris Surfboard S33

I tried beta at first, but decided to back off to release previous to 1.3.1
