Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: v1.12.0 Build 221010 Rel.35508n(5553)

Update : Issue confirmed by TP-Link support, fix will be pushed via new update.

Today I saw a update in my Archer C80, and I installed the update, now the firmware version is v1.12.0 Build 221010 Rel.35508n(5553), but after that my network went down.

Earlier I am using PiHole as my DHCP server, it was working perfectly fine, but after updating to latest firmware, my network went down, router suddenly change it's ip address to 192.168.0.61 from 192.168.0.1, and all the clients suddenly lost internet, I have restarted the router multiple times, but issue still there. Then Idisabled the DHCP from PiHole, and enabled the DHCP server on router, and changing it's ip address back to 192.168.0.1, it did fix the connectivity issue, but I don't want to user DHCP server from Router.

In brief.

  • I am no longer able to use external DHCP server (I was using PiHole for this to manager my connected devices).
  • If the external DHCP server enabled during update, somehow default router management IP (192.168.0.1) getting changed to 192.168.0.61, I have to disable the external DHCP completely and reboot router to getting back it's default management IP.
  • I enabled the DHCP server in router and added PiHole IP as DNS IP for my network, but it is getting changed back to 192.168.0.1 automatically after reboot.

I guess this is probably a bug introduced in new firmware. can this be fixed?

Also, please let me know if I can downgrade the firmware to the previous version?

Saugata D.

@iAmSaugata  @Fernando

Hello,

I'm happy to announce here that our developers have provided a beta firmware that could help fix the issue you're reporting. If anyone else come across with similar issues that the DHCP server settings of the Archer C80 change occasionally after a reboot, it's suggested to try updating and installing the below version and confirm if the issue will disappear.

Please visit the following thread to get and install the beta firmware:

[Solution] DHCP server settings of Archer C80 will be restored or changed once it reboots

Note:
1. Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding!
2. This beta version can be applied to both the EU and US versions.

Do tag to let me know if this beta firmware works or not. Thank you very much.

Hi! I also have an issue: after the upgrade, I'm not able to make WDS connection to my iPhone (I use it when my main ISP is down) There is an error that tells "main network has Enterprise/WEP encryption which isn't supported by the router". It's very strange because I could connect WDS easily on v1.10 (or v1.11 can't remember) firmware.

@qlm You are reporting a different issue.

As per the error message, it seems that the iPhone hotspot is using Enterprise/WEP encryption, and the latest firmware of the Archer C80 may have enhanced the security or changed the WDS mechanism, and that's why it can no longer connect to that hotspot.

@Kevin_Z Hi! Thanks for the answer. What should I do now? What's the right version to rollback and fix this issue?

Also I see in WiFi Explorer app that iPhone uses WPA2/WPA3 encryption, so there might be a bug in the firmware.

Screenshot is attached

@qlm Do you remember if your iPhone updated from an older version to a newer one? What is the iOS version now? We may confirm and check it.

No, there wasn't any update on the phone. It has the same version as when everything was ok - iOS 16.1.1

The problem started right after firmware upgrade (as I remember - from 210711 or something like that to 221010)
