  @XManag3r

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

It is printed on the bottom of Deco X50.

How to find the hardware version on a TP-Link device

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Is it possible to install this firmware on v1.2 using this method? https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2958/

  @David-TP I have the latest firmware installed on my X50 V1 system. I add the vpn profiles for both L2TP and also OpenVPN, try to connect to either they both just say connecting.

Stays like that and doesnt show connected.

I can put an incorrect username or password on the vpn profile, to test the app detects it, nope still shows connecting.

Nothing at all in the webgui logs re the VPN

How do we troubleshoot this?

Thanks

  @David-TP

Thanks, I've already updated it, i got a firmware notification.

I have another question, will IoT decrease my network performance if I enable it?

Because I have smart wifi products that they are already attached to my main network

  @nobiscuits, Hi, I am afraid NO. Even with firmware recovery, Deco X50 V1.2 could not use the firmware of Deco X50 V1.

@XManag3r XManag3r Thanks and the IOT network will not decrease the network performance.

@Ian_D Do you use Deco X50 as the VPN client?

It is suggested to refer to the suggestions on this link and send an email to us with the required information.

VPN Client is not working

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Good day.
Installed firmware 1.2.0 rel. 54525 on Deco x50 ver. 1.0

I tried to install an openvpn profile, connect, then connected, but at this moment the Internet disappears completely.

*.ovpn tried on imac and windows 11 with the openvpn program - the configuration working.

  @David-TP

Hello,

About the new firmware and VPN, I cannot export the OpenVPN config to an email. to configure it on a computer. My Deco version is X50, without web management. Please advise.

And please take into consideration adding a custom DDNS. For example, my ISP is providing free DDNS. I don't need to use third party.

PS: Using a log from OpenVPN mobile, I could be able to edit a config file for my computers but this is not the easy way. Phones or tablets are not the only devices that may need to connect to a VPN. And not everybody is able to read a log and edit a config file. My personal opinion.

Thank you,

Adrian

  @Adrian_G

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Personally, I think it is very useful if the OpenVPN config could be exported via email so that users could get the VPN config directly on their laptops.

Would you mind starting a new feature request here to get more support:

Thank you again.

Best regards.

  @David-TP hi there, regarding the IoT network, since this creates a new network, does that mean every time I want to control a device I have to switch WiFi networks? Or is it bridged somehow so that even when connected to the main WiFi I can still control the devices as if they were on the same network?

I ask because I've installed 3 x Deco X55s. ALL my smart devices (light switches, ring doorbell, ring chime, plug sockets, CCTV cameras) seem to be struggling. They keep connect and disconnect very frequently. Pretty much constantly actually, nothing stays connected for longer than 30 seconds before losing connection and the reconnecting!

I've turned off beam forming and fast roaming and then rebooted but it didn't help

edit: decos are in AP mode, with smart dhcp off, so router is doing all the dhcp stuff

  @IAmOrion

Hi, Welcome to the community.

The IOT network is still bridged with Main network so the smartphone does not need to switch the network to control the IOT devices.

As for the offline issues of smart devices, did you see they keep connected and disconnected very frequently on the Deco APP, or on their own control APPs?

Have you tried to disable "Mesh Technology" for these devices as well?

By the way, is your IOT network set to 2.4ghz only?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
