Model: TL-PA7010P KIT
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: multiple adapters and versions

Hello,

My network has a pair of PA7010 and a pair of pa9020.

Regularly, 3-4 times a week, a random number of adapters fail to communicate and display a red light. When they work, the connection is stable and close to the theoretical limit.

The only reliable method to repair the connection is to run around the house and reset all "red" adapters to factory settings within a minute. I would love to use encryption, but do not bother as it makes the whole reset exercise even healthier, but longer.

I have thoroughly studied the forum and tried all suggestions (off power saving, changed firmware, encryption, sequence of pairing, etc),

and pretty sure that adapters lose connection due to a mains interference or surge and then FAIL TO RESTORE THE CONNECTION.

The connection restoration functionality is expected from the product, and it is technically possible (as the factory reset does restore it).

The years of inability to fix the problem make me think that TP-link is either ignoring the customer feedback, technically incompetent, or unable to adopt an appropriate technology for some other reason.

I would love to hear if anything is being done about the problem and if the customers have any hope of receiving either a firmware upgrade or a recommendation to buy a new model that does not give up after a random mobile call or light switching.

Your faithful customer until the dishwasher starts,

Mikkk

  @Mikkk

Hi, how long have you had the TL-PA7010KIT and TL-PA9020kit?

--If you just bought them, It would be better to use the same series of powerline adapters, like PA7010kit with PA7017kit or 7027P kit, PA9020Pkit with PA9020P kit.

And May I know which adapter is connected to the main router, 7010 or 9020?

If possible, could you please check if only leaving 7010Kir or 9020kit whether the adapters could maintain a stable connection?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Hi,  @David-TP ,

Thank you for the reply.

Below is the scheme of the network.

The 1000 Mbps adapters are 7010 v3, both firmware 3.2.4_701013_171124_902 . The 2000 Mbps are 9020 v1 with different firmware: the  av9020  one has 3.2.4_902111, and  the av9020P connected to the "main" router (Virgin hub 3.0 VMDG505 used as a wifi spot) has a 3.2.4_902011_903.

Just as a passing comment for next version, an option to select and copy firmware version as text from tpPLC would be invaluable.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 24- or 48-hour testing period to isolate 7010s and 9020s as they are all in use most of the days. And I thought they would be compatible, so bought the newer 9020s when needed more Ethernet connections. If I have to change to the same type, I would rather upgrade everything to 9020s in hope to get a more stable connection.

The 7010s were more stable before the 9020s I think, but they were in different locations.  And there is no noticeable failure pattern now. Anything involving the 9020P connected to the "main" router fails. That said, there is no direct networking between PCs, so a fail in other comms would probably get unnoticed.

Best regards,

Mikkk
