Hello,

 

The problem

I am trying to configure a local network with 2 Archer AX10 having a private network between these 2 routers and a guest network that doesn't have access to private one. And this is my current setup.

What I tried

Attempt 1

Configure 'Archer AX10 #2' as Access Pont. The problem is that the guest network can access the private network because it doesn't have the option 'Allow guests to access your local network'.

 

Attempt 2

Configure 'Archer AX10 #2' as a Router like bellow

The problem is that Archer AX #1 cannot acces devices from Arches AX10 #2 (from #2 to #1 connection works).And if I disable the NAT, I can communicate from both routers, but Archer AX10 #2 won't have connectivity to the internet.

 

What I'm doing wrong or is there any other solution to my problem? Thank you!

Hi,

 

Do you only need the "Archer AX10 #2" to have a wireless guest network or both AX10 routers?

 

In case only the "Archer AX10 #2" needs to have a guest network, then see if you can route a cable from the ISP device to the "Archer AX10 #2" and make the "Archer AX10 #2" your main router.

I think to achieve all your goals at once you would need more sophisticated router devices.

  @woozle, could you advise me what router should I use? What technology it would need? And I can replace only the main router that is connected to the provider? Thank you!

Considering your network topology and equipment you can't have both AX10 providing an isolated guest network and all client devices in the same local subnet.

With your first attempt you can only have an isolated guest network on AX10 #1.

With your second attempt you can have an isolated guest network on both AX10, but AX10 #2 introduces an additional local subnet.

You may consider Omada solution for that purpose.

  @terziyski, thank you for the suggestion. I will look into the Omada setup to see if it worth the upgrade.
