Model: Deco
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.1

A side note that I do not know what the version number is so I selected V1.

During the past couple of months I have been having issues with settings that I put in place for parental controls and or blocking of certain devices suddenly disappearing.

First let me explain. In an effort to control after hours access, I set up my deco to have a limited number of IP addresses. Additionally each device is assigned an IP address through address reservation. This means the device can only connect with the IP address if it matches the MAC address of the device. Through this method I have been able to make the parental controls pretty solid. Kids are unable to bypass that with a different Mac address as a result.

There appears to have been a recent update of the Deco software for my Android device. Since then I've been having random events of it forgetting that I set time limits or have blocked a device. I've had to uninstall and reinstall the software in hopes that it would fix the issue, but it has not. This has resulted in a loss of control in applying consistent parental controls.

What is frustrating is the randomness of this. I could set a control, then come back in 10 minutes later to find that it's gone. Other times I can set the control, go back into it and it does keep the setting but later I could go back into the software and the setting is gone.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experience that this issue of settings that stick around for a while and then suddenly disappear without any attempt to actually remove the setting put in place. It's very frustrating and occasionally the kids benefit from it by being able to stay up late unbeknownst to us. This obviously results in very tired kids the following morning. It's summer so it's not as bad but I would love to have this issue resolved well before the next school year begins. We want to be able to rely upon the settings we made to better control internet access. We shouldn't have to become 24/7 Network specialists in our own household.

I do wish to know that up until a couple months ago, this was not a problem.

  @Koss53093

Hi, Could you please refer to the following link to help submit the Deco APP log:

How to submit Deco APP log

As for the recent update, do you mean an update to the Deco X60 software or an update to the Deco APP?

Thank you very much.

Wait for your reply.

Hi, I can confirm a similar behavior explained. Its random so difficult to "track" or reproduce/simulate. Ticking or selecting a profile or "family member" to a unit in the system and it sometimes doesn't stay. The selection isn't saved. This has sometimes been solved by closing the app on the iPhone down, and trying again... and again. About 5 times and maybe, it works.

The current process by ticking a profile or family member without confirming your selection (with a "save" action) makes it feel unreliable.

We have the Deco M5 3.0 & 3.2 with firmware 1.6.5 Build 20230110 Rel 41561. Using the latest iPhone iOS app and an Android app (avail at 28th June 2023). This have been an issue on an earlier version of the app and had it ones on the latest. We don't use assigned IP address from the connecting unit. We reserve an IP in the Deco system.

Sorry but according to my opinion this is not the way you should have to setup your system to get around the weakness of the Deco system. It's radiolus that you have to limit your range of IP addresses in your DHCP server to make it work. A whitelist function for all MAC id's could change this and it seem to take ages for them to develop such important feature. Trying to push for this Link to post
