Firmware Version: Latest

I have 8 C225 plus some Vigo camera's on my network connected to a TP-Link VIGI 16 Channel Network Video Recorder. The Vigi cameras no problem, but I got up a couple of days ago to find the from LED solid red on all the C225 cameras. When in to the Vigi recorder, and they are still all working fine, no change. BUT in the Tapo app they all show as of line. I have restarted the camera's, but no change. I do not want to reset them because of the work involved with the recorder etc How can I get them back I. The app?

  @Camera_bricks another note: cameras are all about 6 months old, I also have a C200 on the network, this is also fine through the app. My first reaction is an update has bricked them all.

  @Camera_bricks

Hi,
From your problem description, it seems the cameras have connected to your Wi-Fi but have no internet, so they still work with the VIGI recorder that is in the same network but shows offline on the Tapo app.

1. Please double-check if the system LED on the Tapo C225 is solid amber or solid red.

2. If you turn off the mobile data on your phone>> force close the Tapo app>> connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as the Tapo C225>> open the Tapo app, and can you control the Tapo C225 on the Tapo app?

3. Please describe your network diagram, such as the Internet--wireless router))) Tapo Cam.
What's the model number of your router, do you have internet when connecting to the same Wi-Fi network as the Tapo C225?

4. Please check if the router has enabled the Firewall, MAC Filtering, or Access Control feature for the C225. If yes, disable these features for a try.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee yes sounds logical, as I have been making some changes to increase my dhcp available ip addresses. I have 7 netgear wax214 wap's, that all had static it's, and because I changed the mask to 255.255.0.0 from 255.255.255.0 I went into each wap and changed there mask. The wifi is definitely connected, as this phone i am on as from today is my old phone and has no sim but just on the WiFi. And if I had missed one wap then I would expect just a section of the cameras to brick. But this is not the case, also went in to the app on this phone and still all offline except the c200. Also I have many other devices on the WiFi, Alexa, smart bulbs etc, but none of them complaining. But I think you are on to something there.

Network:

Switched 10gbe wired with 7 poe waps

  @Camera_bricks

Hi,
The problem may be related to the network diagram and the settings on your router or AP.

Is your network diagram the Internet--Omada VPN Router(ER605)--switch--7x WAPs)))8x Tapo C225? If so, use one of your Tapo C225 as an example to do a test as the following steps.

1. Please go to the camera's settings page to check the IP address and MAC address of the Tapo C225, and go to your WAP's web UI to confirm which WAP is this C255 connected to.

2. Connect your phone to the same WAP's 2.4G Wi-Fi, make sure the phone has internet access.
Try to ping the C225's IP address on this phone and check if you can ping it successfully. If yes, you can watch this C225 on your phone usually.

3. Go to your router to check if you have enabled the MAC Filtering feature or Access Control feature and blocked the camera from going to the internet.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Hello, so I checked all the items you mentioned, and none of these where configured, so I have removed the firewall and can now connect again, all I can think of doing is slowly switch of protection in the firewall, but very little was configured in the firewall and I expect that after resetting the firewall, just its presents will block the cameras again.

  @Camera_bricks

Hi,
If removing the Firewall settings on the router can solve the camera offline issue, it should be the settings configured on the Firewall page that block the camera going to the internet.
You can change a firewall setting/add a firewall entry if you want to use the features on the router's Firewall page, check if it won't block the camera connection, then add one more setting/entry to ensure the new settings won't affect the performance of the cameras.
Best Regards.

  @Solla-topee FIXED IT

So turning off absolutely everything on my new router made no difference whatsoever. I completely disabled all functionality, also doing an external penetration test that stated "no security". Still stuck on a solid RED light. So I reset the camera, no problem, went through set up process with no issues and is now back to a GREEN light on the camera.
I can only assume the camera stores something inside, not visible in the configuration to do with the path. I have not had this issue with any VIGI camera (also TP-Link). I just need to do this to 8 more of the C225 cameras :( But I think I would have needed to do this anyway, as I also got a new phone and none of the old configuration was transfered across.

  @Camera_bricks

Hi,
It's hard to say the reason for this issue based on the existing information, if resetting the camera to the factory default settings and reconfiguring it can solve the issue, you can have a try.
If you want to do further troubleshooting, I can also forward your case to the tech team to follow up.

Best Regards
