Model: Archer VX1800v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: New device

TL:DR: please send help before it gets yeeted 😂🫣

Tplink VX1800V (VDSL/ADSL Modem Router)

Is it possible to replace the standard kit supplied for this model I have?

I need the extra ports and extra features.

saying in the specs it supports MER\IPoE (RFC 1483 Routed) - but can’t find it in the options.

Thankyou 🙂

one thing I should have mentioned is I have fibre to the cabinet, with a openreach built in spilter box for the dsl connection.

Had another crack at this today, unfortunately no joy. Just can’t seem to get it to authenticate. And have the dreaded orange light on internet connection.

I’ll give tplink support another go and report back if I have any success. I may keep the device just incase I decide to switch providers in the future. But it seems Sky/Now make it tricky on purpose.

The customer service for Now was very dismissive and basically said, it’s your responsibility to sort it out. 👍🫣

I’m still in a cooling off period with them, so tempted just to cancel and go elsewhere to be honest.

tplink agent said I need to contact Now directly to double check the authentication details.

i was told to enter:

PPPoE (not MER)

username: abcdefgh@skydsl

password: 1234567890abcdef

oh I’m having fun 🤩 🫣😂

  Thankyou @Sunshine

When connecting the Archer VX1800v to Sky Broadband (UK) or NowTV MER line and configuring it through the web interface, the "Sky(MER)_VDSL" option is missing from the Quick Setup ISP list. If you select "Other" and configure it, it does not work.

When configuring it through the Tether App, the "Sky(MER)_VDSL" option is available, but there is no option to add a username and password, resulting in no connection.

Workaround:

If you are experiencing the same issue, please try installing the beta firmware below for the Archer VX1800v.

You can download the firmware from the following link: Archer VX1800v_V1_240326

Note: Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding.

After installing the firmware, please configure the router using the web interface. Select the ISP "Sky (MER)_VDSL" option and proceed with the setup.

Please note that the current beta firmware does not support Sky MER configuration through the Tether App.

MER   @David-TP please could you or one of your colleagues assist me in fixing this issue? It would be much appreciated :)

Thankyou

(the Sky_MER option only shows up when setting up in the tether app, not when I connect via my laptop)
