Model: Tapo C220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.9

I purchased two C220 cameras this month, but I've been experiencing ongoing issues with them.

One of the cameras frequently goes offline, sometimes reconnecting automatically, while other times I need to unplug and re-plug it multiple times. sometimes, I even have to remove and re-add it to the Tapo app.

I just went to the store and had it replaced, when I came home, the other C220 camera encountered the same problem – it went offline and required replugging to reconnect.

It was straightforward initially when I added these cameras to the Tapo app, but now it has become incredibly challenging. I now encounter difficulties such as "not able to join the wifi" or "pairing failed." Even with the replaced C220, I'm still struggling to add it to the Tapo app.

Overall, these issues make the cameras practically useless, which is extremely frustrating.

Thanks for the reply. It appears that stability has improved since I disabled Band Steering on the router.

Interestingly, my other Tapo cameras and devices function well with Band Steering enabled except for the C220. Band Steering is generally recommended for optimizing WiFi performance. I'm curious if Tapo can address this issue with the C220 in future firmware updates.

Hi,
Do you have an unstable issue even after updating to the latest firmware 1.1.9 Build 240223 Rel.56143n?
If so, you can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot.
What should I do if my Tapo smart devices keeps losing connection or going Offline?

If the issue remains, please help confirm:
1. Led status on a Tapo C220 when it is offline: Red/ Flashing Green/ Solid Green etc.
2.  When an issue occurs, can you manage the camera when your phone and the camera are connected to the same Wi-Fi?
3. The model number Wi-Fi router and your network topology:
e.g. ISP Spectrum-Archer C7 router<Wireless> tapo device
4. How often does the issue happen?

Best Regards

Hi,
Thank you very much for your case sharing.
Usually, the band steering feature won't affect the camera's connection since the camera supports 2.4G Wi-Fi only, it's hard to say if the stability issue is only related to the Band Steering feature. If you are willing to continue the troubleshooting, please let me know the model number of your router and help collect the camera log when the Band Steering is enabled and disabled on the router.
How to get the log of Tapo Camera?
Best Regards
