hi

i have a Archer AX20 and 4 pieces of RE300 i'm trying to create a mesh network connecting the first RE300 to the router second RE300 to the first and so on

my problem is that the second RE300 is connecting to the router and not the first RE300 that is closer than the router

what can i do to get the network to work as i expect ?

thanks in advance for any help

Hi,

I believe this is not possible with the Archer AX20 as the main router.

As far as I am aware only the Archer AX55 V1 has such a feature yet. It's called "Preferred WiFi Uplink AP" and the description TP-Link has given for it is:

"Preferred WiFi Uplink AP: by default, it is set to Auto, when there are more than two mesh nodes in the same EasyMesh network and wireless backhaul is used, you could select a preferred AP for the satellite device, the preferred AP can be either the main router or another satellite device."

Normally, older OneMesh extenders work just like EasyMesh devices when connected to newer TP-Link EasyMesh routers, but in the particular case of the Preferred WiFi Uplink AP feature it would be better to first seek confirmation from TP-Link whether it will work or not with OneMesh extenders.

Also note that the Archer AX55 V1 has been superseded by the Archer AX55 V2 about two years ago already. The chances of retailers still having stock of brand new V1's are likely very small.
