Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: AX55(US)_V2_1.1.0 Build 20230128

Dear Community,

Recently, I upgraded my main router from an AX23 to an AX55(US) V2.0 and decided to set up the AX23(EU) V1.2 as a OneMesh satellite wireless repeater.

I spent many hours trying to configure my AX23 as a OneMesh satellite repeater. It was a difficult task because there was no “add device” button in the AX55 OneMesh interface. It is strange that the AX23 has this option available, but my AX55, which I consider a “better” router, does not. Both routers have the latest firmware versions installed, and Smart Connect is enabled.

After watching some videos, I found an alternate method to set it up:

  1. Set up the AX23 in the OneMesh tab as a wireless satellite repeater.
  2. Press the WPS button on the AX55 (router) for just 1 second (pressing it longer turns WiFi off).
  3. Press the WPS button on the AX23 (repeater) for just 1 second (pressing it longer turns WiFi off).
  4. The link/pairing process should start, and the AX23 will show in theAX55 as a OneMesh device.

This workaround is not very user-friendly…

It is stange that Easymesh is only supported in V1 and V4 but not in V2 and V3 AX55 versions.

Will really appreciate if Easymesh is implemented in V2 AX55 router.

Cheers! Mat

Hi,

Apparently the Archer AX55 V2 is not planned to receive support for "EasyMesh". Therefore you will unfortunately have to stick with "OneMesh" and use the workaround you illustrated.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/easymesh/product-list/#wi-fi-routers

... and there will be no "Ethernet Backhaul" for OneMesh.

@woozle this is very disappointing news. I recently bought a new router and discovered it has fewer capabilities than I expected. I believe TP-Link's strategy of only supporting some versions of the same product is terrible. Why call it the same product name if customers have to "investigate" the individual version's capabilities? All versions should have the same capabilities!

Unfortunately, this makes me reconsider if TP-Link is the brand I want to use, and I am thinking about returning my AX-55 router.

Regards, Mat

  @Mat_arg

Hello, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community, and we certainly appreciate all your feedback and feature request(s) here.

While we don't have any specific details that I can share around if the feature of support Easymesh on Archer AX55 V2 can come to your home router, or when it might, I'll make sure to log this feature request and pass it along to the team.

I'm moving this conversation into the ‘Feature Request (Routers)' area and tagging it as a ‘Future Consideration’ for better visibility.

Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have, we’d be happy to send them up for you.

 Thank you @Marvin_S !

Yes, it would be a great feature to support EasyMesh in V2.0 as well.

ECO Mode would also be a great feature, but I don't know if it is possible in this model.

How much time might these implementations take?

Regards,

Mat

Only V1 and V4 supports Easymesh. All versions should have this feature, including V2 and V3

THIS WILL BE OF BIGHELP TO THOSE WHO EXPECTED THAT IT CAN MESH. Apparently, the sellers on my local store didnt even tell me of this feature, or rather what feature it doesnt have. The Ax12 which i think is a smaller router has Easymesh. Why cant this bigger and more pricey router not have the Easymesh. I dont think it should matter what hardware version it is. 😅🥲 Pls dev team. I chose TPlink bec i think your routers' mesh system can do better .
