Model: Archer VX1800v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Firmware Version: 0.11.0 2.0.0 v6092.0 Build 230830 Rel.39623n

Hi,

I got Vx1800v as replacement to my VR2100 which was working fine with RE305 using Onmesh. So when I connect my RE305 to the new modem, only 1 band connected 5Ghz if I move the extender away the EasyMesh switch to 2.4GHz while 5Ghz disconnected. Then I did factory reset for my RE305 but the same behavior exist only 1band connected between RE305 to Vx1800v while with my old router dual bands connected 2.4 and 5Ghz.

Any advice.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

What is the hardware version of your RE305? Does it suupport Easymesh? Here is the Easymesh compatible list for your reference.

Also, it is suggested to follow the guide to check your settings. And did you enable Smart Connect on the main modem router?

  @Marvin_S

The hardware version is V4 and it is supported EasyMesh as mention on website and my firmware is latest.

I test with Band steering and without.

If I connect it as normal extender both band connected normally but when it is EasyMesh only 1 Band connected.

With band steering

This is the case with me.

I follow all the steps to connect it but same result.

My question does EasyMesh routers only use 1 band and keep the other as Standby? or something is incorrect?

Hi, thanks for your update.

Your understanding is correct to some extend. We have confirmed when Archer Vx1800v and RE305 set up Easymesh network, only one band is connected between them. Usually it is more recommended to connect to 5GHz band for less interference.

Thanks for your calcification so that per design or it could be new firmware for enhancements since we can't choose the band as the router/extender are choosing it by it self. So we can't force to use 5G or 2.4G.

Sorry for the confusion. I did not explain that clearly. The default connection is 5GHz band and 2.4GHz is usually a back-up. So tha related design will not be changed via firmware update, I think.

Thanks again. Is that related to extender RE305 so if I buy RE505X or RE605X Will be the same?
