Hi,

I am having difficulty streaming video from the C120 camera to vlc.

I have followed the instructions to set up a camera account and forward the port in the router.

But when I try to access the stream in vlc, I just get rolling errors Failed to setup RTSP session

I do have a question about opening the port. Am I to open the port to the IP address of the camera?  In my netgear router I used External Start Port: 554 Internal Start Port: 554 Internal IP Address: The IP address of the camera. Is that right?

Then tried to start vlc with

vlc rtsp://userid:password@ipadressofcamera:554/stream1

If any of this is not right, please advise.

Hi,
In this case, please describe your network diagram in detail, such as the internet--wireless router)))(((Tapo C120, etc.
If you want to stream the C120 with VLC in the outside network, the operation to open the port on the router for the camera is correct, however, you also need to check if the router has a public WAN IP address. And the RTSP stream URL is incorrect, the IP address should be the router's public WAN IP address rather than the camera's IP.
Best Regards
