TP-link X50 and Starlink - Wifi connections keeps dropping
Hello,
I'm using Starlink as my ISP and have it in bypass mode (Ping at 99.87% and almost no outages for over 0.1s) and connected a Deco X50 directly to it (hardwired of course). And set 2 other deco's for internal use and 2 outdoor versions of it (X50-Outdoor -> 1.2.6 Build 20240723 Rel.10139).
I live in an old building (mansion) in Italy with very thick walls, so I've place the deco strategically to have the most signal for the places I frequent through the day. The outdoors are hardwired connected via a TP-link Switch I've also placed in the network (also my TV and PC are hardwired). Usally I've 2 or 3 bars wherever I go so coverage is good (I think).
The wifi is set up as follows:
* 2.4 GHz and 5 ghz network with 1 name
* security is low (WPA/WPA2) because of 1 device that is older and cannot connect if I up the security (and I would very much like to keep that one)
* bandwidth for 5 ghz : 160 MHZ
At first it was no problem; everything worked perfectly. Good connection all of the time.
What I'm now experiencing is that the wifi connection seems to drop for no apparent reason. I'm suddenly on 5g/3g (mobile reception which sucks here on the mountain where I live). It does reconnect but sometimes I need to switch the wifi off and on again on my mobile devices. I'm also noticing this on my hardwired connections (like TV and PC) as of late. I do not understand why this is happening. When this happened I also checked the connection with my Starlink to see if it was giving problems but it says it's online and no drop on packages.
Already tried:
- Run diagnostics I see everything is fine. No wifi interference.
- disabled Fast roaming and Beamforming (I read somewhere here that it might solve this problem; it does not)
- I tried third-party software to check my network: and it says all is fine.
- I've checked the Starlink connection but also it seems to be working fine.
But still, the network keeps crapping out on me.
What could it be? Does anyone have a suggestion? Expect for a new deco system preferably ;-).
