Q&A
Q: Can I still use HomeCare Features if I didn't update the firmware?
A: If you stay in the original version, previous features will still be accessible through the Deco app. However, these features might no longer receive essential security updates. Therefore, we recommend keeping your firmware up to date to ensure optimal security and performance.
Q: Will previously free-offered features require a subscription after the firmware upgrade?
A: No. After the firmware upgrade, the Basic Parental Control service kit will not only retain the original capabilities of HomeCare Protection but also offer various enhancements in functional interaction, app block, and the richness of statistical data. Users can still enjoy an excellent experience without a subscription.
Q: If I already have an active Advanced Parental Control subscription, Can I use it on Deco M5 instead?
A: Yes. However, there is an exception: if the TP-Link ID also subscribed to Security+ at the same time, then the previous subscriptions can't used on the Deco M5 since its Network Security features are already free.
Q: Will I lose parental control configurations and history records?
A: We will make every effort to retain and migrate user usage records and configurations to the fullest extent possible. However, due to potential discrepancies with the old HomeCare database, some settings might need to be reconfigured. Additionally, since the original firmware utilized less usage data for parental control statistics, the insight history and traffic hours may take some time to accumulate sufficient data before they can be displayed accurately after the firmware upgrade.

Hi, thank you very much for your time and patience.
It would take time for the Deco APP to integrate "Accessibility" principles.
You don't need to submit the Deco App feedback with logs anymore. The engineers have located the root cause and plan to get it fixed in the official release.
Best regards.

@David-TP Thanks for your reply.
However, I don't talk about the same attack as before.
Here is a screenshot:
Because it is not the same alert, I wanted to send a log, which is not possible at all.
Another with this alert is the name of the device which is not helpfull, I suspect it is my Pixel Watch (first generation).
The IP address designates a home server but I also had this alert with a workstation, both are under Debian Bookworm.
I was able to send logs before (some months ago now), even if it was the same lack of accessibility it used to work. But now there is a real regression in my case.

Hi, Thanks for the update.
It might not look the same. Both "ICMP" and "SNMP" are used to query the network status in the local network. It depends on how much information/alerts the server wants to receive about the queried device. For simple availability, ICMP is usually as good an indicator as SNMP (over UDP). It's only in a more full-featured situation where one might be able to better leverage the wealth of information provided by SNMP queries.
The root cause of the reported issue is its improper and overly stringent classification of network traffic, so its internal security database needs to be updated later.
As for the APP feedback, you can try to delete and install the Deco APP again to see whether it made any difference.
PS: Deleting the Deco APP will not mess up the Deco network configuration.
Best regards.

@David-TP Thanks for your reply.
Would it be useful to try to submit another app log for this or do you think it is the same root cause?
It would help if there was another way to send log than using the app. Too much things depend on the cloud with Deco and on the Deco app also.

Hi, thanks for the update.
I'm afraid there hasn't been another way to submit the Deco APP logs.
Best regards.

@David-TP But do you think this alert might have the same root cause?
I ask to know if it is really necessary to clear all data for the Deco app or if it will be a simple wast of time.
I don't want to have to connect again to the app (with my account which have 2FA enabled) if it is not really useful.

Hi, yes, I think both alerts are having the same root cause. It would be better to wait for the official release of Deco M5_1.8.5.
The latest Deco APP still hasn't been properly integrated with Accessibility principles, so I can't guarantee that deleting the Deco APP will help with the APP logs. In other words, deleting the Deco app is only a suggestion and not a necessary step.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@David-TP Still no news, still in beta, no other beta firmware provided when there are false positive with intrusion detection, it begins to be too long...
