Hey all,

I got a TP-Link TD-W8960N yesterday to replace out Netgear DGN3700v2 (Rubbish router IMO). I went through the initial setup just fine and it seemed to work great.

But after around 2 hours, out of the blue, we would loose all access to the internet. I tried to go to 192.168.1.1 to see what was going on but I was unable to get there (Page would not load but router would ping ok). Wireless was still functional but the internet would still not work. When I rebooted the device, it would come good for around 2 hours but then do the exact same thing all over again.

Any ideas what could be going on? I thought it could be due to uTorrent being open so I closed it down completly but that did not help.

Thanks,
Karl

When your Internet drops, check the status of the light on TD-W8960N: ADSL light & Internet light.
After working normally for exact 2 hours, the router will crash? (so weird....)
Have you selected "Connect on Demand" on your TD-W8960N?

Both the ADSL & Internet lights remained on at the time.

It wasn't exactly 2 hours, each time was +/- 15 minutes.

No I havn't. The problem isn't that the internet would die, it would be because the modem locked up completly (No web gui access, no ping responce, only wireless active).

In the end I called TP-Link support and they agreed that the modem is faulty. I returned it to the place of purchase (Since it was less than 2 days since I purchased it) and decided to get a 8970 instead. Should be coming in later this week hopefully.
