Model: Tapo C720
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 build 240823

I installed my C720 camera a few months ago, and it has been working great at first.

Recently I noticed the camera was offline. It appears that whenever I switch the floodlight off in the tapo app, the entire device powers off (I can see the status led, usually on, suddenly turning off; streaming in the app stops instantly, and it soon appears offline in the app), and I need to open the breaker then close the circuit back, at which point the c720 restarts and works as if nothing happened - until I turn on the floodlight then turn it back off.

If I don't turn on the floodlight, it can stay on for a while. As long as I leave the floodlight on, it also works. Whenever that floodlight stops, the device powers off.

It wasn't happening before, so maybe it's a recent firmware update? But if the firmware build number 240823 means 2024-08-23 then I guess it's been like this for a while a did not change, in which case it's a hardware fault?

Hi,
1. There is no new firmware released for Tapo C720 recently.

2. When the camera is working, please go to its Device Settings page and check if the Status LED option is enabled. If not, please enable it and check if the camera's LED turns off after the floodlight is turned off.

Best Regards

The LED status light is set to ON, and I can indeed see that LED turn off the moment I turn off the floodlight.

I will try to find a SD card and enable diagnostic before trying again in case it can report something, but I suspect it's an internal electrical problem.
