Is there some way I can record video in one go, without getting multiple clips like I do now with the c120?

If you want to record continuous recordings with the Tapo C120, please insert a microSD card into the camera and follow the instructions below to configure the storage settings on the camera to save continuous recordings to the microSD card.
How can I store the Tapo camera video recordings on a microSD card
If you subscribed to the Tapo Care service, only the detection video clips will be stored on our cloud server.
