Can't connect to my CCTV alarm systems SVT or my wife's laptop
Good Morning.
I've just installed a network mesh system with 3 TP-Link Deco XE75's (set-up in router configuation), and a single Deco X50 outdoor unit. It is connected to an Xfinity modem, (formerly an Xfinity network, but have enabled the Xfinity in "Bridge Mode" and disabled it's wireless network). Our main floor unit is setup as the router with a downstairs unit connected via wireless and the upstairs unit connected via ethernet, (Ethernet Backhaul) through a TP-Link 5-port unmanaged network switch (hub).
I've configured a 5GHz wireless mesh network and seperate 2.4GHz wireless mesh "IoT" network.
Issue #1...
I've got a monitored CCTV home alarm system with cameras and an SVT that was originally connected to the Xfinity modem/router via ethernet, (TP-Link Community here won't allow me to mention the name of the system"). It worked just fine when connected to the Xfinity router. When I connect the system directly into one of the ports on the Deco "Router" unit, the network doesn't recognize the SVT system at all. No "connection" notification on the Deco app and nothing shows up in my client list on the app for any of the Deco units.
Issue #2...
My wife works from home. Our home office is upstairs next to the "Backhaul" connected unit. Both our home computer and her work computer are connected via ethernet through the 5-port switch. Our home computer booted right up and automatically connected through the ethernet connection to a 5G connection and works fine. My wifes laptop though booted up and connected through the ethernet connection but as a 2.4GHz IoT connection. She has internet access but routinely uses TEAMS and other high bandwidth platforms with her work which I'm worried may not do well with a 2.4G connection. I have not been able to figure out how to make her laptop connect to the 5G network like our home PC did.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why my alarm system SVT won't connect to the Deco Router or how to make this happen?
Does anyone have any ideas why my wifes computer is making a 2.4G IoT connection and not the 5G connection?
Does anyone have any ideas how I can manually configure my wifes laptop to make a 5G connection?
