Continuation of Ticket #830486 – Delay in SIM Data Fallback on NX200 5G Router
Dear TP-Link Support, @Sunshine @David-TP
As already communicated via email regarding the following ticket:
I'd like to highlight another major performance issue with the NX200 5G router:
Issue: Delayed Failover from WAN to SIM Data
When the WAN (Fiber) connection is disconnected, the NX200 takes 2–3 minutes to switch over to the SIM (mobile data). This causes a serious disruption to internet-based applications like:
-
Microsoft Teams calls
-
VPN sessions
-
Video conferencing
-
Real-time collaboration tools
All of them time out or disconnect, leading to a poor user experience.
Comparison with Archer MR400 (4G Router)
In contrast, the Archer MR400 switches between WAN and SIM seamlessly- often within a few seconds. In many cases, users don’t even notice the switch, as the fallback happens quickly and without disruption.

The issue has been resolved with the beta firmware. Many thanks to your team for the quick investigation and for providing the beta in such a short time, which solved the problem. Truly appreciate the quick turnaround.
Looking forward to these fixes(for below topics) being included in the official firmware release soon. Thanks again.

Hi, thank you very much for the update.
I saw you're still troubleshooting with our senior engineer. l left him a note, and it is also recommended to mention the delay to the engineer as well. Maybe these two cases are related, and he could help us check them together.
I'll also keep an eye on the community to identify any additional similar feedback.
Thanks a lot and best regards.

@Satheskumar That’s a great and detailed breakdown of the issue — the delay in SIM data fallback really does affect real-time tools like Teams and VPNs. It sounds like a firmware optimization problem that TP-Link should definitely look into, especially since the MR400 performs much better in that regard. I’ve experienced similar challenges during live streaming setups for events like the where a quick and stable failover is essential to keep the stream running smoothly. Hopefully, the next firmware update resolves this delay.

Please note, I’m currently using the beta version which includes fixes for the two issues mentioned earlier. However, I’m not sure if these fixes are included in the official firmware (v1.6.0 v3.0...). I tried upgrading to the latest available version some time back, but the same issues persisted, so I reverted to the beta version currently in use.
Kindly confirm if an official firmware for NX200 V1 with below beta fixes is available. If not, when we can expect, any tentative timeline as its already several months over. Thanks
