Model: Archer AX23
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I've recently decided to upgrade my home wifi network by adding second access point.

My original setup was: (note: >>> means ethernet cable)

5G Router (with wifi as well, but weak antennas) >>> switch in the attic leading to

>>> security system

>>> home ethernet cable system >>> NAS and Archer AX23 Wifi access point to cover pretty much the whole house.

Worked OK, but there were weak spots in the house and in the garden, so I wanted to get a second one to have better coverage.

I connected the second one to the switch in the attic and created Easy Mesh network, but the network is unstable ever since, mainly the NAS is disconnecting heavily on my MacOS.

Can I ask what is better to avoid NAS disconnection on MacOS? I read it's common on EasyMesh that this happens a lot...

Is't it better just to create 2 same SSIDs, both connected to WAN, and have both set as an access point? Or how to do it the best?

Thanks

Hello@hammer07 ,

Welcome to our community.

Do you mean both Archer AX23 routers are connected to the same switch?

Please note that the Archer AX23 currently cannot be used in Access Point mode to form an EasyMesh network. Therefore, to establish Ethernet backhaul, ensure that the second Archer AX23 is directly connected to the first Archer AX23.

If you still wish to connect both AX23s to the Switch, you will need to set each to Access Point mode.

For Ethernet backhaul in Mesh network, you can refer to General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature.

@Joseph-TP Thanks, I wasn't aware that my setup was wrong as it was originally somehow working, but kept kicking me off. Now I swapped the master and satelite device, moved the master in front of the first switch and voila, it seems to be working. thank you!
