Model: Tapo C225
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

When I walk past my camera in the evening it has a Red light constant as well as the blue light. Sometimes it then switches off on its own. The camera is not in use and not recording when I'm home so this freaks me out as I feel like I'm being watched.  If I turn it off and on again the Red start up light is much brighter than the one I'm seeing when I walk past it at day 9pm. I've looked at manual and Google but can't see why it should be doing this, the WiFi connection is fine and I can connect to it from my phone ok.

Why is it doing this plse?

Hi,
1. After the camera Tapo C225 is configured successfully, the system LED turns to solid blue. Usually, the camera will go into Night mode in the evening (in a dark environment), and the Infrared LED (red color) will turn on. It is normal to see the camera's red infrared LED illuminated and the blue system LED illuminated at night.

When you are in front of the camera, you can go to the Tapo app > camera's Live View page to select different video modes (Day and Night mode), and go to the Device Settings page to turn off/on the System LED option to see the LED changes on the camera.

2. On the camera's Device Settings > Reboot Camera page, if the Auto Reboot feature is enabled, the camera will reboot automatically at a specific time.

3. When you turn the camera off and on, the red light you see should be the System LED rather than the Infrared LED, and their brightness is different.

Best Regards
