Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.2

Hello,

i just installed a second BE550 v1 (fw1.1.2) as mesh satellite with wired backhault (gigabit cat 5e) and i am facing some problems.

First of all i would like to ask if it is normal for the sattelite to ask and renew its ip from the routers DHCP server every few seconds when the lease time is 7200.

Below you can see a small part from its log where it says that the lease passed on 21:40:37 received an ip with 7200 lease time and then again it says that the lease passed on 21:41:11.

2025-09-11 21:41:11 DHCPC INFO [21990] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state

2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] receive ack from server with ip xx.xx.xx.xx, options(serverid=xx.xx.xx.yy;lease=7200;subnet=255.255.255.0;dns=xx.xx.xx.zz xx.xx.xx.ww;router=xx.xx.xx.yy;)

2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] send select request with options(cliid=01/qq:qq:qq:qq:qq:qq:;)

2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state

this goes on continously fluding the log.

Also what does it mean 1/2 lease passed. Which is the second lease?

Now to the problem.

My nas is hardwired (2,5gbps) on the satellite and a pc is conected wirlesly (intel BE200, 3849/3843mbps mlo) to the router.

When i copy a file from the pc to nas the copy speed is 114mBps (full gigabit). When i copy the same file back to pc from the nas the speed is 44mBps.

Checking the connection between router and satelite it states 1000 mbps.

Tried diferent lan ports, different cables where possible, rebooting the satellite, rebooting the router etc, nothing changed.

So i removed the satellite and put it in access point mode. Immediately both copy speeds went to 114mBps (full gigabit).

For reference i tried again diferent lan ports, different cables where possible, rebooting the satellite, rebooting the router etc and the speed remained solid both ways full gigabit.

Convinced that there is no cable or lan port problem i reseted the access point BE550 and added it as a satellite to the mesh and boom nas to pc 44mBps, pc to nas 114mbps.

Again back to AP mode everything is fine, back to mesh satellite same 44mBps.

Also tried removing the second BE550 and replacing it with a switch, again everything is fine (114mBps both ways).

At this point i gave up as i dont understant whats going on.

One last note, i tested the above with fw1.1.2 and fw 1.1.1. I did not use 1.1.4 as i was facing problems with wifi strength and stability (from 3843 to 2888 flanctuating). Also i am very relactunt moving to 1.2.1 as then i will not be able to revert back to previous firmwares.

Any help or insight on the above will be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

Stavros

Hi,

Regarding your observation from the System Log. This is apparently "normal" for all TP-Link Archer routers. I have different models and the log shows the same as yours. I haven't read any statement from TP-Link why they do that.

As for the data throughput problem. I don't know why that happens. But could you please, for comparison, run the same test with the PC connected to the BE550 by Ethernet cable? (provided you have a long enough cable available)

  @woozle

thank you for taking the time to confirm that this is indeed a normal behaviour for tplink easy mesh.

Unfortunately the pc i am using in the leaving room where the main router is, is enclosed in a tv furniture with just the wireless antenna coming out from the back, so i can not reach the lan port behind it.

But to further investigate i hooked up on the satellite an old nas (WDmycloud) which has one 1gbit port and i faced no problem with that. File copy to and from the pc linked to the main router is 108 mBps.

I also tested with a pc hardwired to the satellite (2.5gbit lan also) and the file copy is again fine (220mBps and 108mBps both ways respectively to each nas).

That to me confirms that the cabling is correct and that there is some kind of problem with the nas 2.5gbit connection to the satellite when passing data through the 1gbit backhaul but i dont know how to deal with it.

  @Joseph-TP

As a last resort i exchanged routers. So i put the satellite as main and vice versa. This seems to have resolved the issue.
Also now the backhaul connection raised to 2.5gbit

Thanks for your support

Good to hear you got it working. Perhaps something was not right in one of the many configuration files within the BE550 V1 that was originally the "main" router. And now that you have replaced that BE550 with the other freshly factory-reset BE550 V1 things are as they supposed to be.

  @woozle

Thank you very much woozle for your help.

What you say is correct and to an extend expected despite the fact that resetting a router is not ideal for a working environment (both me and my wife work from home)

Lets hope it stays that way
