Hi there, 

 

i have recently update my Deco x20 V1.2 to the latest firmware (1.61 Build 20250910 Rel. 43292) to get more feature on the parental control.

most of the time it works fine. however sometimes the Parental Control tab disappear and become Security tab


Setup:

my Deco network consist of two Deco x20 V1.2 with the same firmware.

 

Event sequence:

1. Suddenly I am not able to make changes and save the config of Parental Control 

2. Parental Control tab get replaced with Security tab

3. Satellite x20 drop off the network. on the satellite unit is still showing green but on the App is showing status as Offline. (power cycle does not bring it back online)

4. All the devices applied with Parental Control are able to access internet without restriction

 

 

side note:

not sure if they(Parental Control & Deco offline)are related issue.

the purpose of using parental control was to prevent my IP cam from sending footage to the manufacturer cloud since i can process the videos locally.

How often would you run into the reported issues?

It is also suggested to factory reset the hardware once( by holding the reset pinhole for 1 second only).

Hi   @David-TP , 

 

i am not exactly sure but so far after a while i reboot the whole Deco network the tab will become "Security" after sometimes and stay until i reboot again 
i have submitted a log through the app, but the second deco was offline, not sure if the log can see that 

let me know if you need more log to investigate

Hi David, 

I have tried to reset the satellite unit, seems like getting worse sad

keep dropping off the network and come back every 1-2 mins 

I have submit additional log during this period just few minutes ago

Hi, thank you very much for the logs.

Have you tried to reset the whole Mesh units, not just the satellite unit?

I think after the firmware upgrade, there might be some glitches when the new parental control version adopted the user data from the old parental control profiles.

Hi David, not yet. Feel kinda risky to do that. Since it might leads to losing internet access if something goes wrong in the process 

any article or knowledge base I can refer to for preparing myself before the reset ?

Hi, thank you very much for the new logs.

After a whole reset of the Mesh network, did all four issues continue, or would any of the following issues no longer occur?

  • - Can't make changes or create Parental Control profiles.
  • - Parental Control tab randomly disappeared, and only the Security tab showed up.
  • - Satellite Deco units are green and working well, but the Deco App reported offline.
  • - All the devices applied with Parental Control can access the internet without restriction.

By the way, what settings have you configured under Parental Control profile, such as BedTime, TimeLimits or the simple "Block" for the whole profile?

Hi David, I took sometimes to monitor the network 

the main issue parental control is stable now

but the second deco sometimes shown offline from the deco app
