Model: Tapo C410 KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.1

My C410 camera has developed a fault that cuts out the connection to my WiFi network when the solar panel is connected. This has only started happpening since the last firmware update. If I unplug the solar panel, the connection returns. The camera is also not charging when the solar panel is connected. There's no dirt in the ports and there's been no water ingress.

When the solar panel is connected, the status LED starts to rapidly flash red. When it is disconnected, the status LED turns back green.

My wifi network is a mesh network consisting of 3 Deco AX1500 set up in router mode. When the camera loses connection, it's still showing as connected to my network however, I am unable to access the camera using the Tapo app. I have factory reset the camera, I have turned off all the mesh functions in the Deco app, along with beamforming and fast roaming. I've reserved the cameras IP address and the issue persists. Only unplugging the solar panel seems to have any positive effect. While I could remove the solar panel altogether and take the camera down daily to charge it, this isn't what I want to do because;

(A) The cameras placement requires ladder access to reach it.

(B) Isn't what I expected or PAID for when I bought the C410 Kit since it comes with a solar panel that is SUPPOSED to charge the camera.

The Tapo app shows that the camera is running firmware version 1.3.1. I imagine there are more numbers at the end of that version number but the camera will not let me access it properly in order to see the full version number.

As I stated at the beginning, this has only just started happening since the firmware update. Prior to that, the camera has worked fine.

I am also facing this exact same issue with my Tapo C410: it becomes inaccessible when the solar panel is connected and charging.

My network is a simple, non-mesh setup (single router, PPPoE).

Crucial Testing & Details:

1. The camera appears Online in the app, but I cannot view the live stream or access the settings page.

The battery is draining very fast when this malfunction occurs.

2. The camera works perfectly fine when charged via the USB power adapter.

3. The camera also works fine when brought indoors and disconnected from the solar panel.

4. I have received two replacement cameras, and all three units showed the same specific failure.

5. I have 3 other C410 cameras (same model/firmware) that are working perfectly.

Does anyone from TP-Link even read these forums?

My security camera is currently providing less security than if I was to get one of my cats to meow if it saw someone on my garden.

  @djnattyd

I tried fully charging it with the adapter (until I received the "fully charged" notification from the Tapo app), then I connected the solar panel and let it solar charge again.

Now the problem is gone. Maybe there was some issue with the power management in the latest firmware version.

Try to restart the camera, see if it helps. >>Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds to turn on or off the camera

If the problem persists, collect a log from the camera and contact the technical support team for assistance. Contact Technical Support
