Hey,

I've had my Deco X50-5G for a while now and it keeps dropping connection randomly. Worse part—it just sits there without reconnecting. The signal is still there, but no internet. Only way to get it working again is to restart it manually or reboot from the app.

I'm using this for security cameras at a location I'm not always at. This isn't acceptable. I shouldn't have to drive over there or keep babysitting an app just to keep the connection alive. It's a €300+ device—it should just work.

I'm seeing this same issue all over Reddit and the forums. It's clearly a firmware bug, not a user error or overload situation.

So my questions are:

  • Is this actually a known bug you're fixing?

  • When's the next firmware update?

  • Are people who got stuck with this getting replaced units or refunds?

This thing was advertised as reliable connectivity for remote locations. Right now it's the opposite. I don't want to have to downgrade firmware or schedule daily reboots just to make it work.

Any official word on a fix?

Thanks

This is not the solution you are after, but it might help your situation. I hasten to add I have not used it on Deco (yet) but I cannot see why it wouldn't work.

I used it on my 4G Huawei router and it's successfullly rebooted and reconnected it 25 times so far with no intervention. Yes, Deco should have this functionality built in, but sadly TP-Link doesn't seem capable of doing so, as such, I thought this could be your answer, at least for now.

Hi, can I have the firmware version of your Deco X50-5G?

May I know your mobile service provider?

Currently, it is suggested to temporarily set the "network mode" to "4G only".

Recently, we found that some disconnections were due to the incomplete or partial construction of a 5G Standalone (5G SA) network. In many cases, users find that switching off 5G on their phones and forcing a connection to the more established 4G/LTE network provides a more stable experience until the 5G SA network is fully built out and optimized.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Hi,
the firmware version is 1.3.0.

Vodafone CX is the service provider.

Regarding switching to 4G only:
Why did I buy an expensive 5G router just to use 4G?
I’ll be moving in soon, and this will be my main internet connection — I need full speed and reliability.

Both Reddit and this forum are full of reports about the same issue. Your products should work properly without requiring workarounds. The problem isn’t with the network disconnections themselves — everyone understands that network stability isn’t fully under your control. The issue is that when the network drops briefly and then recovers, the router should automatically reconnect without needing a manual restart (or asking a neighbor to go unplug and plug it back in).

Thank you
