Deco M5 Issues with 2.4Ghz after upgrading to 1.9.x
Hi,
After upgrading both of my Deco M5 units to firmware version 1.9.x, I started noticing severe degradation in the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The network has become almost unusable—devices experience very high ping times, significant packet loss, and frequent disconnections.
Here is what I observed and tried:
- Multiple Devices Affected: All devices on the 2.4GHz band experience these issues.
- Frequent AP Resets: Using a WiFi Analyzer app, I can see the 2.4GHz SSID repeatedly appears and disappears, which matches the disconnects seen on my devices.
- 5GHz Band Stable: The 5GHz network remains stable and unaffected.
- Both Units, AP Mode: The issue occurs on both Deco units, which are set up in Access Point (AP) mode, so it does not appear to be a single device hardware failure.
Troubleshooting Steps: I performed multiple reboots, factory resets, and changed wireless channels and settings, but the problem persisted on 1.9.x.
Workaround: Downgrading both units to firmware 1.7.8 immediately resolved the problem—2.4GHz became stable, and all devices could connect normally.
Based on this, it appears there is a regression or bug affecting the 2.4GHz radio stability in firmware 1.9.x when running in AP mode.
Regards.
