Hi there,

i've been using tapo arround the appartment without a problem and been super happy with it. Recently i've recomended to neighbours a few cameras on our building for security reasons after a robery took place on the house on our side, and all neighbours agreed. We just bought them and proceded to install and used our own home networks. Its a 4 appartments building, and at least 2 people on each of them. I'm the "admin" that setup the camera on the enterance and invited the neighbours so they can have access to it as well. This was all setup the begining of this week.

The question is that now people are worried about some of the neighbours using the cameras to spy on each other. The cameras are there for security reasons, not to spy on neighbours. I've never worried about that arround my house, but on the building it seems to be a concern.

So my question is, is there a log of some sort that is stored on the camera or a way i could set it up, that shows who logged in to the live feed of the cameras? Just to post login schedule and scare noisy neighbours that abuse the system.

I don't know if the diagnostics feature does this.

Thank you in advance

Hi,
Currently, Tapo cameras do not have the logs or feature to display who has logged in and viewed the camera's live feed. Regarding the scenario you reported, you can consider optimizing management in the following ways:

  1. Establish a clear agreement stipulating that the camera is only for security monitoring in public areas and prohibits its use for observing private areas such as doors and windows.

  2. If you previously shared your TP-Link account for neighbors to access the camera, we suggest trying to allow neighbors to view the camera by sharing the device. Shared accounts have limited permissions on the camera.

  3. Adjust the camera's installation location and angle to avoid filming residents' doors, windows, or other private spaces.

  4. Post "Monitored Area" signs in public areas and provide residents with a written explanation of the camera's coverage area and purpose of use.

Best Regards
