Firmware Version: 1.4.1

Hi,

I've been using the C420S1 cameras & hub without any issues, but just recently one of the cameras was falsely reporting a battery as flat.  So I removed the battery & swapped it out which began to show the correct battery status but the battery icon kept vanishing on the app.

I decided to reset the camera & re-add it to the hub which did work, but the motion detection on the camera has now vanished from the app.

I've checked all the rest of the settings & each one is blank too where settings should be showing.

I tested a theory that it may be something to do with the reset process & reset my 2nd camera, after going through the same process with the 2nd camera & that's now acting the same as the first with blank options in the settings.  I can still see the live feed after 10 - 30 seconds, but it just won't allow me to set any options unless I go into the device options.

I'll try and upload a screenshot of this issue if I can.

Hi,
Please try the following steps and check if they help.

1. Reset a camera. You may refer to the instructions here: How to reset my Tapo camera

2. After resetting successfully, disable your phone's Wi-Fi and enable mobile data.

3. Reconfigure the C420 camera to connect to the hub using mobile data. Then check if the reported phenomenon disappears.

Best Regards

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported phenomenon.

  1. How many Tapo C420 do you have?
  2. What's the model number and OS version of your phone/tablet? What's the Tapo app version?
  3. When you go to the camera's Device Settings page on the Tapo app, are you able to change any settings, such as detection, alarm, notification, etc.?
  4. Please try to control the cameras in a different phone with the latest Tapo app installed from Google Play/App Store, then test if you can control your cameras properly.

Best Regards

1, as with the C420S there are two C420's with the hub.

2, iPad Pro with iPadOS 26.2 on the latest Tapo app (fully up to date on software & camera firmware)

Just checked just now, the app is now showing all the settings for the cameras.  I did check every day up till last night & it wasn't showing any settings.  Seems it was a glitch & either it's been solved or something else has happened between last night & this morning to fix itself.

Hi,
If the cameras and the Tapo app are working fine, you can keep monitoring them. Please feel free to reply if you need further assistance.
Best Regards

As you can see, when starting tapo app up, it shows the battery percentage for all the cameras.  But after a few seconds the 2 effected cameras, the battery percentage vanishes.  When I go into the device settings for them, some settings will appear but others just show a blank screen for the option.

this just happened to my C420S2 cameras as well, just after a reset because of having to change the wifi password.
Everything is up to date and there seems to be no way to downgrade firmware to original settings. Cameras became completely unusable. This is so frustrating.

After resetting and reconnecting the hub and the cameras several times, the issue seems to be resolved by itself. They seem to be working okay again for now. If the same problem occurs again, I will try your suggestion. Thanks.

  @Solla-topee

Thank you for the reply, but no matter how many times I reset the device it just keeps showing the blank settings.

I can't use mobile data as I'm using my iPad, using mobile data shouldn't make any difference anyway.  I don't remember having this issue on the previous firmware.  I don't mind being a tester if I could possibly downgrade my firmware to see if that fixes this issue, or if the issue is with the app itself.

I'm going to test again today with removing the battery after a reset etc to see if that fixes the issue until I receive a reply.
