Devices No Longer Detect My 5GHz Network After Using an Extender
I use a TP-Link Archer C80 router that has separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs. I had bought a 2.4GHz extender from TP-Link and used it for a couple of months. It's the TL-WA855RE model.
Today I ran into an issue, only the devices (a phone and a tablet) that were connected to the extended network are no longer detecting my 5GHz network. The devices that were not connected to it are still doing fine and the 5G net also has it's regular speed on them. I can still see the 5GHz Wifis for my neighbors, just not my one. I've turned off the extender and the issue persists, this had never happened in the past few months.
So far, I've tried doing the following:
-
Reset my wifi and bluetooth settings on the devices and rebooted them.
-
Changed my 5G networks' SSID
-
I tried setting up a guest network with my router, those devices only detected the 2.4 GHz one and ignored the 5GHz one.
-
Rebooted the router
-
Turned smart connect on and then off. (it was off by default)
-
Changed channel width to 40 and channel to 36 from Auto for the 5G network
And I've made sure to always do these in an appropriate range for the router. I am not quite sure on what the issue might be here but would appreciate any insights on what I should try to do to fix this issue. Thank you very much.
