Model: Tapo C310

Firmware Version:

My Tapo camera suddenly stopped working one day a few months back and I was having trouble sorting it out so I had it switched off for quite a while. Today I decided to try and get it up and running again. It took such a long time but I managed to sort it in the end.

It worked for about 2/3 hours. I was getting constant notifications saying person detected and then it just stopped.
It didn't say the camera was offline. When I tapped on it it just had a loading screen then says refresh. I tap it to refresh and it just constantly loads until it says refresh again.

I went outside and managed after some time to get it to work again but then after probably less than an hour it's gone off again.
So it's clearly detecting the camera is still on but I can't watch it live. It just keeps loading and then saying refresh and not doing anything.
How can I fix this because it's doing my head in! I've got a camera that's not doing its job. Wasting electric having it plugged in too. Not only that but I have to keep going outside to try and sort it when it's up on my neighbours house keeping an eye on my car. I have to get the ladder out to get to the camera. It's worked for years with no problems and then all of a sudden it stopped working. And now it's continuing to play up!

Hi,
Please provide the following information about the reported phenomenon for further analysis.

  1. What's the LED status on the Tapo C310 when it fails to load its live feed in the Tapo app, such as flashing red, solid green, etc.?
  2. What did you do to get it working again after failing to load the camera's live feed?
  3. When the camera is working, please go to its Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and check the RSSI value.
  4. What's your phone's model number and OS version? Please uninstall the Tapo app and reinstall the latest version from Google Play or App Store, then check if this helps.
  5. Please try a different phone if you have one.

Best Regards

Hi,

Thank you for responding.

So the LED is solid green when it fails to load.

To get it working again I switched it off at the mains and back on again and after about 5 minutes it started to work.
It was working again for a while last night. I was getting notifications up until after 3am of detection motions but nothing after that. And when I clicked on the camera on the app, it said 22:28 and it was constantly loading. I just don't understand what's going on.
I turned it off again this morning and it started to work but it's not working again now. It's also not letting me play back any motions or anything.
I've never had this problem and I've had it about 3 years now.

So when it does work, I can't view any of the footage so again, it's pointless being on. And it's catching motions but when I click on the camera it's not letting me view anything because it just keeps loading.

RSSI value is -67?
That's currently with the camera showing as online but I can't view live footage as it is just loading from earlier on in the day and then making me press refresh but still not working.

If by phone you mean make etc? It's an iPhone and it's upto date with the software.
I did uninstall the Tapo app yesterday and reinstalled and it hasn't made a difference.

I can't imagine it's my phone but maybe I'll see if I can try my son's phone. I'm going to try and check the SD card in the Tapo camera soon too as it seems to be showing as no SD card but I'm pretty sure there is one in there as I've been able to view footage for about 3 years and now all of a sudden it's not working.
