Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing issues with the automation of my Tapo C460 outdoor camera and hope you can help.

My Setup:

Camera: Tapo C460 (outdoor camera)

App: Tapo App (latest version)

Smartphone: [Your smartphone model and OS]

Desired Automation:

When smartphone is INSIDE geofence area → Privacy mode ON (camera disabled)

When smartphone is OUTSIDE geofence area → Privacy mode OFF (camera enabled)

The Problem:

The automations are set up correctly but don't trigger reliably. The camera doesn't automatically switch privacy mode on/off when I arrive home or leave.

What I've already tried:

Location permission set to "Always allow"

Battery optimization disabled for Tapo app

Background refresh enabled

Adjusted geofence radius

Recreated automations multiple times

My Questions:

Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution?

Are there known limitations with geofencing automations?

Does Wi-Fi-based automation work better than geofencing?

Is there a planned update to fix this issue?
