Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue while upgrading firmware on my TP-Link TL-MR100 router and need some guidance.

Device details:

  • Model: TL-MR100
  • Hardware version: v3.8 (IN) (as printed on router label)
  • Firmware version (current): 1.5.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 240528 Rel.69024n
  • Hardware version (UI): TL-MR100 v3.8 00000002

What I did:

  • I went to the official TP-Link India download page:
    https://www.tp-link.com/in/support/download/tl-mr100/v3/#Firmware
  • I set the website region to India.
  • It only shows this firmware:
    TL-MR100(EU)_V3_1.7.0 Build 251121
  • I downloaded the file:
    TL-MR100(EU)v3_1.7.0_0.9.1_[251121-rel40531]_up_boot_All_Release_2025-11-21_14.09.48.bin

Problem:

  • Firmware upgrade via router web UI fails with:
    Error code: 4503 – The uploaded file was not accepted
  • Tested on Chrome and Firefox → same result
  • File integrity seems fine (downloaded multiple times)

Why I need this update:
The firmware includes important features:

  • OpenVPN / PPTP / L2TP VPN client
  • Cell Lock feature (main requirement)
  • Updated ISP profiles

Confusion:

  • Why is EU firmware being shown on the India support page?
  • My router is clearly IN version (v3.8) — is EU firmware incompatible?
  • If yes, where can I get the correct firmware for this device?

Questions:

  1. Is TL-MR100(EU) firmware incompatible with TL-MR100(IN)?
  2. Is there a separate firmware for IN variant (v3.8)?
  3. Any way to enable Cell Lock feature on the IN firmware?
  4. Does Error 4503 indicate a region mismatch?

I’d really appreciate any help or clarification.
If TP-Link staff can check this, please confirm the correct firmware or update the India download page.

for your hardware version: v3.8 (IN) 

i think both EU firmware and  v3.0(IN) is not suitable for your device

  @cloudwalker then what do i do ? i really need that update since it include cell locking feature? and why did not it suitable? where do i get my indian version firmware?

  @cloudwalker they are not replying on email and in this forum. please guide what else i can do? should i try flashing this firmware using tftp, i saw many post with same error code, and officals replied your router designed for local market, thats why this flash error, and they said to check dm to them. i dont know what they said them in inbox but i really need solution. without bricking my device.

I am requesting the TL-MR100(IN) V3.8 Beta Firmware for Build 1.7.0. The EU version on your site is incompatible (Error 4503), and I require the VPN Client and Cell Lock features for my deployment in India.

After confirming with the relevant teams, it's confirmed that the TL-MR100(IN) V3.8 uses a special firmware version and cannot be upgraded directly to the EU firmware.

  @Solla-topee Thank you very much for your response. i would be really happy if i get ported build of that eu version. i really needed that. i dont know why am not able to update, i did nothing wrong idont know why i got diffrent version even i purchased this from amazon platform, that supposed to be trusted partner of tplink.

  @Solla-topee  also is it safe to flash directly eu version from tftp server? i mean is it same will it be comptible? i think only webui flashing restricted, if the firmware is same then i could try flashing using tftp but i need confirmation that it would work same with new features.
