VPN Merge (WireGuard) fails to connect to self-hosted VPN server after firmware update to 1.3.2
Hello,
After an automatic firmware update to 1.3.2 Build 20260212, the VPN Client functionality on my Archer BE3600 has been replaced with VPN Merge. Since then, my self-hosted WireGuard VPN server connection no longer works.
What was working before:
- VPN Client (WireGuard) connected successfully to my self-hosted WireGuard server
- All devices routed through VPN without issues
- Everything worked perfectly on the previous firmware
What happens now (after update to 1.3.2):
- VPN Merge replaced VPN Client
- When I try to connect, the status goes: Connecting → Disconnecting → Disconnected
- The connection never establishes — it cycles endlessly
- The same WireGuard configuration file works perfectly when imported directly into the WireGuard app on my phone/PC
What I have already tried:
- Factory reset (multiple times)
- Deleting and re-creating the WireGuard profile
- Re-importing the .conf file
- Trying different WireGuard servers
- Rebooting the router (cold restart)
The problem is clearly related to VPN Merge replacing VPN Client. The same .conf file that worked before the update now fails. My self-hosted WireGuard server is confirmed working — other devices connect to it without any issues using the same configuration.
My requests:
- Is there a way to downgrade to the previous firmware where VPN Client was working?
- Can the development team investigate the VPN Merge compatibility with self-hosted WireGuard servers?
- Is there a beta firmware available that fixes this issue?
I would appreciate any help. This is a critical feature for me, and the inability to downgrade firmware makes the situation very frustrating.
Thank you.
