Something really odd...

My wife has an Iphone 15 Pro Max, IOS 26.1

I can see in the Deco app it is connected to the BE25-outdoor. But on the wifi settings of the Iphone the wheel before the wireless network is still turning to make a connection, so no wifi connection made.

Most of the time I can see in the Deco app the Iphone is using some data (just a fee kB) after a while, but the Iphone still has no connection. And then suddenly... connection. Sometimes the first minute or so without internet connection (says the Iphone, remark below the wifi connection), sometimes complete wifi (with internet). Looks as the phone needs some time to connect to the BE25.

The really strange part is that as my wife walks inside the house, the Iphone changes flawlessly to one of the 3 BE65, without a hurlde. Functioning as a mesh network as it's meant to be.

Coming outside, the whole event starts again. Or not...the last days she was only in or around the house and the IPhone connected without any problem with the BE25 as she walks into the garden.

And today the phone was connected with another wifi network and after she came home the problems started again. The phone didn't make any connection at all, until the phone was switched off and on.

My Iphone 16 Pro works as it should be with the the BE25 Outdoor and the other BE65. Aitomatic connection, automatic switch to other Deco stations.

On the internet more problems with the Iphone 15 Pro (Max) are reported. I think I've tried everything I can find about this problem, but any advice is welcome. I can give a reaction about changing a setting, restarting phone or router, changing channelwidth, DNS, switching of private IP address on the IPhone, etc. I've tried the solutions mentioned in this topic https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/threads/topic/647954. No changes in the problem. Sometimes it creates new problems. Giving a fixed connection to one Deco males the network less flexible.

Situation:

  • BE65 connected to a Ziggo modem. Firmware of the BE65's: 1.3.2 Build 26040912 Rel. 40631.
  • Modem is set to bridge, the Deco is set to router, incl. handling DHCP.
  • Second BE65 on the first floor (with a cable connected to the 1st one), third BE65 in the garage as the signal strength of the 1st one isn't that strong as I expected. This pne is connected wireless to the 1st one.
  • Outside is the BE25-Outdoor, connected wireless to the 1st BE65. Firmware of the BE25: 1.1.0 Build 20250718 Rel. 40387

How come the IPhone 15 Pro Max needs time to recognize it has a wireless connection with the BE25 Outdoor and not with the BE65? Why does the IPhone 15 sometimes even makes no connection to the BE25?Any suggestions for a solution?

Hi,
Regarding the reported phenomenon, please provide the following information for further analysis.

  1. Is the iPhone 15 Pro Max connected to the Deco's 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi band?

  2. Does the issue occur when switching to the BE25-Outdoor Wi-Fi regardless of which BE65 Wi-Fi network the iPhone 15 Pro Max is connected to? Or does it occur when the iPhone connects to a specific BE65 and switches to the BE25-Outdoor?

  3. How frequently does this problem occur? For instance, if you attempt to switch 5 or 10 times, how many of those attempts will you encounter the reported phenomenon?

Best Regards

1. Is the iPhone 15 Pro Max connected to the Deco's 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi band?

Both, doesn't matter. I tried forcing it to the 2,4 GHz or the 5 GHz band, or let it connect automatically. I has no effect on the problem. But let's be real: for a modern IPhone 15 Pro Max the band to which it connects really shouldn't have any influence. Maybe for the distance to the router as the 2.4 GHz band has a broader coverage. The distance to the router is about 10 meters.

  2. Does the issue occur when switching to the BE25-Outdoor Wi-Fi regardless of which BE65 Wi-Fi network the iPhone 15 Pro Max is connected to?

Yes, the issues is regardless of which BE65 device the phone was connected to and which network. The regular network as well as the guest network.
Are you looking for special parameters I should observe?

Or does it occur when the iPhone connects to a specific BE65 and switches to the BE25-Outdoor?

Nope, see my previous answer.

  3. How frequently does this problem occur? For instance, if you attempt to switch 5 or 10 times, how many of those attempts will you encounter the reported phenomenon?

Seemed quite random to me. At first as good as every time the phone had to connect to the BE25, but after  xx times (I really don't know how much) it connected automatically. Until the phone connected to another wifi network. Then the problems returned. Because of the bad weather in the Mederlands we haven't been sitting a lot in the garden. Just until now and yes, the problem reappears. Switching wi-fi of and on, waiting, connection but without internet, I can see data usage in the Deco app, but the phone has no internet available. And suddenly it reconnects.

Thanks for your questions.
