Nx200 VPN Client
Hello TP-Link Community and Development Team,
I am writing to formally request a feature update for the Archer NX200. We desperately need the implementation of a native VPN Client (supporting protocols like OpenVPN, WireGuard, or Surfshark/NordVPN API integrations) in a future firmware release.
Currently, the router features a VPN Server. While this is great in theory, in reality, a VPN Server on a 4G/5G mobile router is practically unusable for most users. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) almost universally assign Private IPs (CGNAT) to mobile SIM cards. Without a public IP, configuring an inbound VPN Server is impossible without jumping through complex third-party hoops.
On the other hand, a VPN Client requires an outbound connection, which works perfectly under CGNAT. Implementing a VPN Client would allow us to:
-
Secure all connected home devices directly at the router level.
-
Bypass geo-restrictions easily.
-
Fully utilize the router's hardware potential.
Many competing brands in the 4G/5G router market already offer native VPN Client capabilities out of the box because of this exact networking limitation on mobile networks.
The Archer NX200 is a fantastic piece of hardware, but lacking a VPN Client feels like a major bottleneck for a device meant to be a primary home gateway via 5G.
Please consider adding this feature in the upcoming firmware roadmap. I am sure many other users in the community would benefit greatly from this.
Thank you for your time and continuous support!
Andrea
