Dear Support,

I would like to submit a feature request regarding the TP-Link Archer MR402 and similar routers.

While the router supports IPSec VPN, it currently does not support operating as an IPSec Remote Access VPN server. As a result, Road Warrior / Dial-up VPN clients cannot connect directly to the router.

I would like to request support for IPSec Remote Access (Road Warrior / Dial-up Client) connections in a future firmware update for the Archer MR402. This would allow users to connect securely to the router from remote devices using standard IPSec VPN clients.

Please consider adding this functionality in a future release.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  @GaborM

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback here. While we don't have specific details on whether this feature can be added to the product or when it might be, I'll log the feature request and pass it along to the relevant team for evaluation.
If other users have the same request, please vote on this thread and leave your comments.
Best Regards

If your IPsec implementation is based on strongSwan or a similar IPsec stack, I may be able to provide additional technical suggestions that could help with implementing a road warrior / remote access VPN mode more effectively. In particular, I have experience with IPsec configurations, dynamic peer handling, and virtual IP assignment mechanisms (e.g. rightsourceip and related concepts), and I would be happy to share ideas that might help align the implementation with common road warrior VPN designs.
