As many of us here, I have an issue with the wired backhaul between secondary DECO BE85 (AP Mode) and a UNIFI Switch XG-24.

 

Tried everything (switch settings, STP, RSTP, Loop protection, BDPU options and stuff), contacted UNIFI support, everybody there comes to the conclusion that TP Link should simply provide the ability to choose which backhaul we want (wired or wireless) instead of keeping making useless network loops on local network.

 

Asking us to change our switching equipment to low end stuff or killing network security just because this option does not exist is unacceptable. The solution to this issue is obvious, I don't understand why TP Link does not provide it.

Hi,
In your situation, the following article may be helpful.
Deco Ethernet Backhaul: Setup, Wiring Rules, and Troubleshooting
 

Usually, when Deco switches from Wi-Fi backhaul to Ethernet backhaul, it may create a short network loop for 1~2s. If your switch supports loop detection, it may block the port used by Deco. In this situation, you can disable loop detection on your switch, then reboot it and try again. Once the ethernet backhaul is established, the Wi-Fi backhaul on the Deco will disconnect automatically.

 

If your Deco nodes do not work properly after you turn off loop detection on your switch, please provide your network diagram and the phenomenon you are experiencing so we can better assist you.

here is our setup :

 

Internet Provider Box ------- DECO BE85 (AP Mode, 10G port)

Deco BE85 (Ethernet Backhaul - 10G port)

 

What happens ? After a few seconds, DEco is disconnected and goes back to WIFi backhaul, losing the Ethernet connection

Switch is locking the port because it detects a loop.

STP on /off does not change anything

BPDU is off

Non-STP Loop Protection has no effect, on or off, the Ethernet backhaul gest killed immediatly and the port is locked by the switch because it detected something wrong.

QOS Mode is off

Storm Control is off

Port Isolation is off

 

Now, if I go this way :

It works, but I loose the 10G capability of the Deco, going through an unmanaged Gigabit switch which anyway is just useless except to mitigate the issue.

 

 

Whatever settings I tried on the UNIFI XG-24, the Deco always gets back to WiFi backhaul instead of wired backhaul.
