Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my frustration regarding TP-Link's inconsistent and fragmented firmware update policy across its product tiers.

It is completely logic-defying to see that newer or mid-tier hardware receives major stable updates while the top-of-the-line flagship models are left running on outdated software for months. This approach causes massive compatibility and management issues within the same mesh network.

For example:

 My Deco BE65 has recently been updated to the latest firmware v1.3.2 (Build 20260912). This new update officially introduces helpful UI additions, such as displaying the Default SSID directly in the device info page.

 Meanwhile, my premium flagship Deco BE85 is still stuck on the old firmware v1.2.1 (Build 20250731).

Because of this firmware mismatch, the ecosystem feels fragmented. The application reads and handles the devices differently, leading to sync issues, routing confusion, and an unstable mesh behavior where satellite units struggle to maintain a clean connection preference.

When customers invest heavily in flagship systems like the BE85, they expect prioritized, or at least synchronized, firmware support. Releasing a major jolt of features to the BE65 while leaving BE85 users in the dark on a year-old build is unacceptable for a premium networking ecosystem.

I hope the support and development team takes this feedback seriously and syncs the firmware versions across the board to ensure the network harmony we actually paid for.

Has anyone else noticed this lag in flagship updates?

Deco's firmware development timelines can vary by model due to differences in hardware architecture, testing requirements, and regional certification processes. I don't have specific information regarding firmware release schedules, and fully understand how frustrating it is with the firmware update gap between your Deco BE65 (v1.3.2) and Deco BE85 (v1.2.1). Your feedback is valuable, and I'll forward it to the relevant team so they can evaluate it to accelerate the Deco BE85's official firmware release.

 

Regarding the phenomenon that the satellite units struggle to maintain a clean connection preference, we can't confirm that the firmware mismatch is the root cause. Please confirm the following information if you are willing to troubleshoot.
  1. Please describe your network diagram. Or you can go to the Deco app > Network tab, tap a Deco, and send us the screenshots of the Show Map and Show List pages.
  2. Do you mean the connection preference settings you set for a satellite Deco will go back to Auto? If not, please describe the phenomenon you are experiencing in detail.
  3. If you have encountered any other issues, please describe the specific symptoms so that we can better assist you.

Thank you for your response. To help you escalate this quickly to the development team, here are the answers to your questions:

1. Network Diagram & Setup:

My main router is a Deco BE85 (v1.2.1). Downstream, I have a Deco BE65 (v1.3.2) and a Deco XE75. Due to the firmware gap, the network map and client management in the app are highly unstable. Units frequently appear as "disconnected" or "offline" with a red exclamation mark in the app, even though the data plane remains active and the internet is physically working on the connected clients.

2. Connection Preference Issue:

Yes! Because of the firmware mismatch and the lag in the management plane, the system struggles to maintain stable connection paths. When the Network Optimization runs, satellite units completely lose sync with the app's control map, causing temporary freezes and forcing me to power-cycle them.

3. Thermal & Performance Context:

Hardware-wise, the devices are operating under excellent conditions (monitored closely, running at a cool 38.7°C). This is strictly a firmware sync and management plane bug caused by the BE85 lagging behind the BE65's firmware features.

Please accelerate the official firmware release for the Deco BE85 so the entire mesh ecosystem can sync properly on the same platform.

Hi, 
Please provide the following information regarding the reported phenomenon.


1. If the Deco nodes are displayed as "disconnected" or "offline" in the Deco app but the client devices still have an internet connection, please ensure the Deco app is up to date, then go to the Network tab in the Deco app and pull down the page to refresh it, then check if the status of the Deco nodes returns to normal.

 

2. The Deco network may be unstable while network optimization is running, but it will return to normal once the process is complete. Do you mean that when network optimization is running, the satellite Deco will disconnect from the Deco network, the device connected to the satellite Deco will lose internet connection, and you need to reboot the satellite Deco to make it work again? What changes in the LED status on the satellite Deco?

 

3. Please send us the Deco app log for further analysis.

Hi,

Thank you for the follow-up. Here are the specific details regarding the symptoms:

1. Refreshing the App: Pulling down to refresh the page in the Deco app does NOT solve the issue. The units still randomly show as "offline" or with a red exclamation mark, even though the latest version of the app is installed.

2. Network Optimization & LED Status:
* During or after Network Optimization, the Satellite Deco (BE65) loses its management connection completely.
* Crucial Detail: The physical LED on the Deco BE65 actually remains Solid Green, and the underlying client devices (like the Smart TV and XE75) still have a working internet connection.
* The issue is strictly that the main router (BE85) and the app lose the ability to see or manage the BE65 until it is power-cycled. This proves the data plane is working, but the management/control plane freezes due to the firmware version mismatch (v1.3.2 on BE65 vs v1.2.1 on BE85).

3. App Log: I extract it and attached to the Deco app log to this email as requested for your technical team to analyze.

Please expedite the official firmware update for the main BE85 to match the platform fixes of the BE65.
