Ethernet Backhaul is a feature that makes it possible to wire the Deco units together to optimize the bandwidth and network stability.
Normally, after wired Deco units with an Ethernet cable, the Ethernet backhaul will take effect automatically.

Q1: Which switch models support Ethernet backhaul?
Most of the switches on the market support Deco's Ethernet backhaul feature. If you don’t have a switch or if your switch is verified not compatible with Deco Ethernet Backhaul, the following models will be a good choice:https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/all-soho-switch/
Q2: To use the Ethernet Backhaul feature, do I need to wire all my Deco units?

Q5: Why my Deco units become unstable once they're connected via a switch?
The Deco Ethernet backhaul feature is based on the standard IEEE 1905.1 protocol. However, we find that some switches, mainly the D-Link switches, will not forward packets based on IEEE 1905.1 protocol, causing all Deco units in a network loop and becoming quite unstable, you might consider changing another switch or contacting switch’s support directly. TP-Link Switches are mostly compatible with our Deco’s Ethernet backhaul.
Q6: Can I set up different Deco models such as M5 and M9 Plus together through Ethernet backhaul?
Yes, just configure and add different Deco models in the same Deco network. After that, you can wire them to set up the Ethernet backhaul connection.

Q7: Can I use one Ethernet port on the Deco for Ethernet backhaul and the other to connect a computer?

Q8: Can I use a pair of powerline adapters to build Ethernet Backhaul, like Main Deco---master Powerline adapter~~~extended Powerline adapter---satellite Deco?
Yes and please keep in mind that the Ethernet Backhaul speed now will depend on both the Ethernet cable quality and Powerline rate.

Hi,
Does anyone happen to know whether the wired backhaul can be achieved through TP-Link Powerline adapters?
I'm looking to install Deco M5s for my home and was wondering if I could recycle some Powerline adapters to provide the Ethernet backhaul.
At the end of the day, it would just be using the house ring main as a 'cable', so even though there's Powerline circuitry at the entry and exit points, it's still got to be a viable/preferable alternative to just relying on the WiFi signal, correct?

I´m having this problem as well. At home I have CAT6 cables running to the points where I would like to place the Deco units. The cables are connectet to a dlink switch (a old one). It didnt work. I got a red led indication on the deco unit. Out of wifi range.
Will it work with the TP-Link 5-Port gigabit Desktop Switch TL-SG1005D Version 8?

Better ditch your dlink switch. Switched mine for a tp-link one and all problems disappeared.

The main article was posted in the YEAR 2017, In question 3 stated a firmware will release on the capability to view the ethernet backhaul and NOW IT'S already YEAR 2019 and we've yet to get any updates or see anything close.
May I know what are you guys doing? and how can a firmware development takes 2 years or more with no significant updates?

ok i found the documtation for Deco M5 I am running CentOS just having issues with binding IP it bound to localhost LOL not the network card.
Same issue for me. OC200 just arrived, powered by 5 volts microusb and connected to my router. chinese cuisine
Also after 20 minutes no connection to cloud but the most warning thing is that i cannot retrieve its ip address. My router doesn't lease any ip.
Tested also with another router but nothing change.

Hi,
OC200 is used to manage EAP device, not Deco. Deco can be managed by Deco APP only.
Besides, do you have any EAP devices? Meanwhile cause it is a business product, you may need post on business community to get some help.
