If you are new to Deco, it might be confusing to understand what you can do with these Ethernet ports on Deco since it's no longer labeled as WAN or LAN 1-4 as standard wireless routers. In this article, we will offer suggestions on maximizing the utility of these Ethernet ports on your Deco system.

Usually, you will have at least two Ethernet ports per Deco (except for Deco M3W). All Ethernet ports on Deco support WAN/LAN auto-sensing which means you could randomly pick one as the WAN port to connect the ISP modem/router, leaving the rest of the Ethernet ports (including the Ethernet ports on satellite Deco) working as LAN ports.

  • Connect to ISP modem/router.

  • Connect a network device, such as a desktop/ NAS/ xBox for a direct cable connection.

  • Connect a network switch to expand more Ethernet ports.

  • Build Ethernet Backhaul among Deco.

Ethernet Backhaul enables two Deco units to be connected via an Ethernet cable to create a more stable and faster connection than Wi-Fi. Once Ethernet backhaul is established, the Wi-Fi backhaul will disconnect automatically.
