[help] Can't always reach local devices with PING command.
Hello,
My WiFi network uses:
- Deco M5 v3 1.5.7 main unit
- four Deco S4 v2 1.5.0 units
- Cat6A backhaul
- ~30 online clients
Some WiFi clients just don't respond to pings everytime.
I installed quite a few smart home devices (eg. Tapo P100, Philips WiZ).
Remote controls works all the time through each manufacturer's app.
I am working on setting up local control with HomeAssistant; it works with one exception:
If I don't use some devices for a while, they will (individually) stop responding to local calls/pings/actions.
Pinging them with local IPs (192.168.68.*) gives me 'hostname unreachable'. They act offline to my network, but at the same time, I can trigger them via cloud apps; so they are always online.
This issue is temporarily solved by using the 'Optimize network' feature from the Deco app. Pinging works after optimization.
I switched my Decos from Router mode to AP mode (with a classic Asus router). I turned off Mesh (seamless roaming?) for the affected devices and the problem persists. I called tech support (Romania) and they didn't have a solution.
Any thoughts?
