Challenges with Oculus Quest 3 Connectivity on Archer AXE75 v1.0's 6Ghz Band
Challenges with Oculus Quest 3 Connectivity on Archer AXE75 v1.0's 6Ghz Band
Hello,
I recently purchased the TP-Link Archer AXE75 v1.0, running on Firmware Version 1.1.8 Build 20230718 rel.47014(4555), with the goal of enhancing my Oculus Quest 3 experience via Virtual Desktop.
To my dismay, my Quest 3 seems to have difficulty consistently detecting and connecting to the 6Ghz Wi-Fi 6E network. Oddly enough, during my multiple attempts over the past few days, I was successful in connecting just once. In contrast, there were no issues when trying to connect the Quest 3 to the 5Ghz network on the same device. I made sure the AP's firmware is updated and even tried tinkering with the transmission channel settings, but the issue persists.
I had high hopes of maximizing the performance of the 6Ghz band for an optimal Virtual Desktop experience on the Quest 3. I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions from the community or support team to resolve this.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Hello @Giuseppe_Lupo @N117 @Costantino @BosPete @harpone
We appreciate everyone who has started this conversation on the Quest 3 that is having an issue with our Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 routers/Deco's 6 GHz connection.
We recently heard from a user who shared his solution with us after he successfully got his Quest 3 to function flawlessly with our Archer BE800 router. Please see if this also works for you and provide feedback:
What if Meta Quest 3 (VR) Cannot Find the 6 GHz Network of TP-Link Wi-Fi 7 Router?
If this, unfortunately, does not work for you, we hope you can share with us more details about the issue and we'd be happy to assist further:
1. What is the firmware version of your Quest 3?
2. How about other 6 GHz devices in the network, will they be able to connect to the 6 GHz network of the Archer AXE75/Deco XE75 Pro flawlessly? There has been a new official firmware 1.2.0 for Archer AXE75, which can be found here. Please update and install this latest firmware on your AXE75 and observe if your Quest 3 will connect to the 6 GHz network.
3. Kindly share with us the 6 GHz wireless settings on your Archer AXE75/Deco XE75 Pro. You may mask the SSID and password for any security concerns.
Thank you all for joining this discussion and love to hear from you.

Hi, thank you very much for posting on TP-Link Community.
1. Any error message when you connect the Quest 3 to 6GHz WiFi of AXE75 Router? and how far is it between the Quest 3 and your AXE75 Router?
2. When you connect successfully for the one time, is the connection working fine and stable?
3. How many client devices are usually connected to the AXE75 and what are they? any other 6GHz client connected to the AXE75?
To assist you efficiently, I will forward your case to the TP-Link support engineers who will contact you with your registered email address later. Please pay attention to your email box for follow-up.

Hi, Thank you for your prompt response.
1) When I attempt to connect the Quest 3 to the 6GHz WiFi of the AXE75 Router, I do not receive any error messages. Rather, I do not even see the 6GHz network listed among the available networks on the Quest 3, despite the option being enabled on the router. The distance between the Quest 3 and the AXE75 Router is approximately 1.5 meters.
2) On the singular occasion when I did detect and connect to the 6GHz network, the connection lasted for only a few minutes. After that brief period, the 6GHz network disappeared again from the list of available networks on the headset.
3) I purchased the AXE75 specifically for the Quest 3. As such, no other devices are connected to the router via WiFi, and there are no other 6GHz clients connected to the AXE75. I truly appreciate your assistance and am eagerly awaiting the input of the TP-Link support engineers. I'll keep an eye on my email for further communication.
Warm regards,
Giuseppe

Hi, thank you very much for the reply, I've provided all those information to senior engineer.
By the way, may I know where you are located? since 6GHz WiFi availability varies in different countries due to local regulations.

@Giuseppe_Lupo I'm having the same issue with my deco be85. Quest 3 can not see my 6GHz network. My iPhone connects to it fine

Hi, may I know if you have any other 6GHz WiFi client available to test whether 6GHz WiFi of Deco BE85 can be detected or not? or whether the Quest 3 can see any other 6GHz WiFi?
If there is still any further issue, it is recommended to start a new thread under Deco product section in this community.

Experiment with the channel width settings on the 6GHz band. Some devices may have compatibility issues with wider channels, so try both narrower and wider options to see if it makes a difference. Check the security settings on your router. Sometimes, stringent security settings can cause connection issues. Try temporarily disabling security features (such as WPA3) to see if it resolves the problem, and then re-enable them with adjusted settings if necessary.

I have the same issue. Tested every single channel with PCS and without, every security. No results. Sometimes i see 6e network for couple seconds and then its gone. Once i even been able to connect to it, but it was only once and never again... At the same time, my phone has no problems with 6e network from this router.

@Giuseppe_Lupo I noticed, that channel 69PCS sometimes can be found and i been able to connect to it for couple minutes. But still lose connection after about 2-5 minutes. Such a BS experience.
