Model: TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

The 4g router works randomly: with my laptop (Ubuntu) I can connect but often internet is not usable (very slow or not working at al). If I connect to the router with my Android phone, it's usually better.

If I remove the SIM card from the router and put it in my phone and connect my laptop to the hotspot, then no problems at all (the SIM works).

If I test the speed of the connection I see a very slow Download speed (1 Mbps) and a relatively fast Upload speed (30 Mbps). If I place the same sim card in the phone, and connect to the hotspot and run the speed test again, the results are more omogeneus (6 Mbps in both download and upload).

It looks like that some settings of the router are messing up with a otherwise working simcard.... I restored the factory settings but nothing changed.

Is there a way to replicate my Android settings on the router? That same simcard inside the phone works as a charm

I am in north Italy, the provider name is Iliad.

  @totem

Hi, thank you very much for posting on TP-Link community.

    1) Go to Advanced -> Network -> Internet page and change Network Mode to "4G Only"

    2) Try to select different 4G band(s) manually, refer to this FAQ: How to select 4G band manually on the web interface of LTE Gateway Routers

    3) Try another available APN profile or create a new APN profile manually

    4) Upgrade the firmware to latest version. Let us know your current firmware.

  @Sunshine thank you,

1) done

2) I can't change the band on this model, but I've downloaded tthe specific beta firmware from your link and i tried some different bands

3) Ther's not much info inside a APN profile: just "IPv4" e "static" and the APN name that is the name of the provider. I made a new one tho

4) The firmware was already up to date (1.16.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 191223 Rel.66638n), now the beta version is 1.11.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 200325 Rel.56677n

Still, no luck. Apparently the only solution is to trash this relatively new router and get a better one...
