Firmware Version:

Hi all,

I have had Giganet installed and they installed the ONT box and one Eero 6 router / unit.

I already have a Deco P9 setup connected to a Talk Talk router. The Deco P9 is then connected to another 2 P9s.

I also have a TL-PA4010 connected to the Talk Talk router providing secondary powerline because I wasn't able to get it to connect to the P9 powerline network when I needed an additional office setup.

(hope this is making sense).

Question:

Can I connect the Deco P9 to the ONT directly and have it act as a router still? This would remove the Talk Talk router from the setup, along with the Eero 6.

Can I then connect the TL-PA4010 into the Deco powerline network via an electrical socket and extend the powerline to the office (bypassing the need for the talk talk box), or do I need to connect the TL-PA4010 to the Deco P9 via an ethernet cable to etend this to another TL-PA4010 in the office?

Please say if this isn't clear, image attached to help.

Thank you in advance. home network

Hi, welcome to the community.

The following topology works.

Deco P9 could replace Eero and connect directly to the ONT box via an Ethernet cable.

The powerline network doesn't work between Deco P9 and TL-PA4010. the master PA4010 still needs to be connected via an Ethernet cable to the first main Deco P9.

The separate powerline network of TL-PA4010s would still get IP addresses from Deco P9 since P9 is the DHCP router, so the Home office is in the same local network as Summer House and TV units.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for reply.

I found another way.

Use the eero out the box, connected to the ont box and have the dec p9 in bridge mode. Then connect via ethernet the poweline adaptors and all worked (in about five minutes).

May do as you suggest if there is a speed improvement maybe.
