  @Kevin_Z

So with this firmware, I should be able to have 2 TL-WA3001 APs connected by Ethernet to a router, and one of them can be the primary Easymesh device?

As mentioned in the first release note, WA3001 supports EasyMesh only when it works in Controller Mode. In other words, you can only have one WA3001 in the mesh network and it must work as the controller.

Yes. As you can see from the firmware release notes, it supports EasyMesh when working in AP Mode. That means it can establish a mesh network with other EasyMesh Routers or extenders when it works in AP Mode.

  @Kevin_Z

Two questions

1) if there is planned support for easymesh on the WA3001, why doesn't it appear on the list of supported devices as "planned", there isn't even a category for access points

2) when will this FW be pushed to the official FW? I am interested in some of these features, (not easymesh, at least not in the near term with the current available HW) but I don't want to mess with beta FW

Once the official firmware is ready, we will add it to the EasyMesh Product List. Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding the ETA of the official firmware, I'm afraid I cannot provide a definitive timeline. The release may take longer than expected, as our team is committed to ensuring that the official software meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Re:TL-WA3001 Supports EasyMesh, Speed Limit, Guest Network in AP Mode

  @Kevin_Z

Hi,

I installed this firmware from the official release channel. Hardware details as follows:

Firmware Version:

1.1.0 Build 20240814 rel.62793(4155)

Hardware Version:

TL-WA3001 v1.0

When setting up a Guest Network in AP mode, the Guest Permissions options don't seem to do anything. Whether they are ticked or not, devices on the Guest Network can still see other devices (ping) and access LAN resources (smb shares).

I found similar threads here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/673612 and https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/589202, which talk about the Guest Network permissions not working in AP mode for a router. If the same thing applies here, shouldn't the Guest Permissions options not even be in the WAP UI, as the Guest Network is only available in AP mode?

Thanks for your help.

Re the comment above about the guest network

I updated my FW as well and tested the guest network, my router is a mikrotik Hex S, and I saw that devices on the guest network could not ping devices on the main network, but devices on the main network could ping devices on the guest network, which seems to me to be proper functionality

Also, when will the page about supported easymesh products be updated with the 3001?

Also, why are there so many HW versions of the 3001, it's only been out one year? It wasnt obvious that I could update the FW from the rules that tp link gives in deciding whether my HW could accept that FW.

I have V1.0, and the release was for V1.20/V1.26, so those don't technically match up
