New Release Client Identification: Enhanced Client Recognition With Fing Integration
We are excited to announce our partnership with Fing to introduce a new Client Identification feature in upcoming firmware updates for select Wi-Fi 7 Archer Router and Deco models. This feature enhances the accuracy of identifying devices on your network, making network management easier and more effective.
What is Fing Client Identification?
The new Client Identification feature leverages Fing’s SDK (Software Development Kit) to provide detailed information about the devices connected to your network. It works by collecting network data such as MAC addresses and hostnames via protocols like DHCP, NetBIOS, mDNS, and HTTP. Fing processes this data and identifies the device type, brand, and model, then returns the results to the router.

Enable/Disable Client Identification under Deco APP>More>System.
After updating to the regarded firmware, you will automatically receive a popup notice for authorization to enable Client Identification. If you select “Maybe Later”, you can enable it again on the client list or go to More>System>Client Identification to toggle it on.
