Update:
- How to revert from official 1.2.0 Build 20241011 Rel. 32926 or 1.2.0_build_20241230_Beta to 1.1.5/1.1.7 if needed:
(No need for firmware recovery this time!)
-update to intermediate firmware 1.2.0_build_20241206 here, then downgrade to the official 1.1.5/1.1.7 directly via web UI.
- For any issues you might experience after installing the 1.2.0_build_20241230_Beta here, such as Deco X50-5G randomly freezing or the internet being unstable,
- Please help us capture the modem log and send it to support.forum@tp-link.com. It would also be highly appreciated if you could add any other details you have observed during the disconnection.

Yes I bought the deco to be able to use the vpn. But I didn't think I would have to update manually

Hi, welcome to the community.
For the "Hybrid Mesh", the main Deco needs to support "Internet Backup" first, and for now, Deco X50_V1_1.6.x is the only model that has added this feature. Deco X60 doesn't support it yet.

Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP It's been more than half a year now and the problem has not been fixed. TP-Link engineers are so unserious in solving issues faced by users who have spent so much money on their system.

Return it while you can. I spent weeks trying to get it to work without crashing and sent it back in January. It doesn't look like tp-link has done anything to fix the issues.

@David-TP
I got this thing because i was very interested in the hybrid mesh backup mode.
It would have been nice to have a proper backup for if my isp fails, but without having to swap main deco's when i want to take it with me when on vacation.
Even sent an email to tplink asking if that would work with my other deco products (a few x60's and an x50 outdoor) and it would work for what i described above and they confirmed it would.
Reading all of this i guess i should have done my homework a bit more...
But i still tried to get it working anyway. Installed the beta update despite the issues mentioned. But the settings for hybrid mesh backup just aren't showing up in my app.
Has it been disabled completely even in the beta update or is something else wrong?
Waiting on a proper update to get things working would be one thing, but if it turns out it won't be compatible with my x60's or something like that i'd rather know while i can still return it...
